I understand nothing is going on there, at the moment, but what happens if Moscow decides that mother Russia needs some extra land, where do you think she's going to look :) its ok telling me its all rubbish but you have to be prepared.

Your right its not the 'national service' lads and ladies who are sent to these places, but after nine months they will be fit and able to serve. Its more a process of training rather than instant action.

No of course not, its not all about fighting, but what i do know is, skipping national service is 'desertion' whether your Polish, Norwegian, British or whatever!!. The army is there for a purpose, because you may need it, its ok studying but if your country or your family need protecting the army are going to do it, not eggheads :) Each has its merits and are both as important as each other, i just hope you realise that instead of dismissing it

I can't believe somebody has the view that the army, is for people who don't want to study.

Your expecting things from a girl (whether she is polish or not does not matter) that cheats on her boyfriend back in poland to be faithful or only answer you, you are in a dream world mate and you deserve to be messed around if you believe she is going to be faithful or even entertain the thought of having a relationship with you. Your ultra ultra ultra defensive aren't you?? why is that?? everybody at some point has their nation blamed or a representative blamed for being a certain nationality etc etc. I can't believe your so bothered about the views people have about the polish like that, if people are intelligent enough they will work out that nationality is merely an identity and not determination of personality. The general population yes, obviously the law breakers don't but by what your saying it sounds like the respect is gained by simply holstering a gun to your side. While this is not the right way to gain respect it does act as a deterrent to criminals to know that the police are armed.

when i say foreigners i mean ALL NATIONALITIES, i'm not laying it on the Polish or any other country and to be honest i don't care who is writing these topics or where they come from, they are racist. I have a lot of Polish friends who shall we say are not exactly very PC. I don't mind and i believe everybody should be able to voice their opinion either right or wrong but i don't have to agree.

Sorry mate and i'm not meaning to offend you but that is a very narrow minded point of view, you don't have to be one or the other!!!. You don't have to be a racist not to catch HIV you have to be aware and safe about sex!!!. If htis was a white guy that committed the crime people's views would be different and they would be asking different questions, like, do these girls not know about safe sex??? or, what made this guy do what he did, but as he's black people's views are clouded and they tend to lean towards the racist point of view.

If you think about it from a objective point of view and take race etc out of it mate i think you'll come to a different conclusion and not type such short, narrow minded statements as the one above.

Your information is very interesting, i knew that an officer had a holstered pistol but did not realise that in every patrol car there was a shotgun (Close Combat) and a Rifle (Distance shooting). This means that there is three firearms available to your officers at one time. WOW thats a lot of fire power to us in the UK.

There is a procedure in the UK for facing armed suspects, an officer who is suspicious or has confirmed that a suspect is in possession of a firearm will contact the switch board and request armed back up (SO19) these are a specialised firearms unit, i suppose on a level with your S.W.A.T teams, that will be dispatched to the scene right away. To me this seems strange as the police are giving up control of the situation to the suspect until the armed response can get to the scene. Myself i believe our police should be armed, over here there is a big debate, on one side there are those who say that if we arm our police, the criminals will automatically arm themselves. On the other side there are those in favour who say. criminals will arm themselves anyway and we need to react to the criminal world.

I'm only 21 so don't have much experience or real knowledge of the police force or history so i haven't any links sorry.

This is my first comment on this subject,

I remember a case just like this about 7 or 8 years ago when a Cypriot man had HIV and infected a number of women in Cyprus some of them from the UK and the rest from the Island itself. This guy got life in prison, which i see as the 'correct' sentence. There is no excuse for what he and other like him do, it is almost murder and in fact literally is murder.

Now to the guy in poland, regardless of his race, country of origin, skin colour etc etc, HE IS A CRIMINAL, however this does not give people the right to exercise their own racist points of view in a public forum. Yes he was Black and he was African, but not only Africans have HIV and not only Africans infect other people with it, as shown in the example above.

I believe this topic was created to encourage racist opinions and has totally missed the point that this individual is a criminal commiting practical murder. This guy deserves to be put to death for what he has done to these women whether their Polish, British, American or from any nation in the world. Myself i feel very angry about what this person has done but its not an excuse to play the race card, either way, for those who have views against him and for those who say, 'ow this is in the news because he's black' People need to grow up, leave the race out of it, think of the individual and the crime.

If people are ever going to live together in Poland the UK or wherever we need to follow the examples of counries like the US where there is harmony between the people, who al salute the AMERICAN flag making them AMERICANS. I'm sorry if i'm tarnishing people with the same brush and i don't mean to but since i've joined these forums i have noticed that the Polish and some of the foreign visitors on this site are truly racists. This deeply dissapoints me after the suffering of the Polish nation over history, surely the Polish of all people should know what it is like to be persecuted by racists and fascists.

I'm not a law enforcement officer but i do have an interest and would like to ask you a question, there is a big debate going on in the UK about arming our police (Guns), i just wanted to know from the horses mouth so to speak if you think this would be a good move as obviously you are armed in America.

What have been the pro's and con's etc etc. Hope i'm not pestering you but i'm just interested on an officers point of view. Keep up the good work, it takes balls to be a Cop in the modern world, if you don't mind me saying especially in the US.

I used to have some polish people in my university group and they used to buy things from poland for me so that it was cheaper than buying them in the uk. Usually it was physical stuff electronic etc etc, but after a while even clothes, all of which were cheaper than they are in the UK, i don't know about America but for the UK shopping in Poland is cheaper

I understand your annoyance at this one mate but really if i had a £1 for everytime somebody was being offensive about British people then i'd be a rich man, I even live in Britain!!!! I have people who come to my country to work, live, escape war etc etc and all they do is complain, but i have to get on with it and take it because there is nothing i can do about it until my government gives me the choice to vote on immigration policies.

Just take it in, mop it up and then move on, thats the best advice i can give. So what if somebody calls you 'a dumb polak' you know its not true so you laugh it of and forget it.
