History / Cud nad Wisla / Battle of Warsaw 1920 - Public Holiday [21]

had a quick look at the link - interesting... but why did so many poles 'disappear' compared to the russians...?

"Estimated Bolshevik losses were 10,000 killed, 500 missing, 10,000 wounded and 66,000 taken prisoner, compared with Polish losses of some 4,500 killed, 10,000 missing and 22,000 wounded."

Dont you remember that Blingin that came on here and spoke about her lovely pl b/f who beat her and tried to smother her when he was stoned,

obviously the last thing you want when you are stoned is a non-stoned bint giving you ear ache.... if they do then it is perfectly acceptable to smother them in an attempt to shut the up... as the great stoner himself Mr X said, "by any means possible"

its also worth noting that if you are about to sit down to a homecooked meal with your bint and then some random nobody phones up and chats to your bint for hours then it is perfectly acceptable to throw the home cooked meal across the room and go out for a pizza...

however, in such instances its essential that the bint understands she has to tidy up the mess before you get back otherwise it would be perfectly acceptable for you to over-react especially if the bint has moved the tv remote

dont ignore the question adolf... we want to know if its true

News / Poland biggest problem [125]

you gotsta learn to drive otherwise youll end up killing each other by accident...

This is ranj.....BW and I disagree on many things, but I will have to say the driving I have witnessed in Poland is not one of those things. I couldn't believe some of the "creative manuevers" I saw performed by many drivers....not just 1 or 2 drivers, but dozens......that being said, I will say this is a beautiful country with beautiful, kind people.....at least the ones I have met or come across.....there were a few sourpusses, but for the most part, even the strangers behind the shop tils have been very helpful and nice. I love it here!

Work / working as teacher in Warsaw [15]

what is meant by celta

Cambridge CELTA - Certificate of English Language Teaching to Adults

originally this was an EFL qualification rather than ESOL or ESL and was aimed specifically at those wanting to teach adults - Cambridge now refer to it as an ESOL qualification and there is a grey area about its applicability to teaching Young Learners although Cambridge will be happy to sell you the CELTYL whilst youre at it

TCL Cert. TESOL - Certificate of Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages

A well rounded course which will cover both teaching adults and young learners in groups and 1 to 1. the UK government programme for teaching english to immigrants is ESOL in methodology

There is not internetionally recognised awarding body for such qualifications and different certificates will be prefered in different parts of the world - to see how your cert measures up look at its content and see how this compares to the above two - a course basically needs to be about 12O hrs in length and involve a minimum of 6 hrs teaching practice to students rather than your peers

UK, Ireland / Foreigners: Please don't buy the English Land! [83]

when i first lived in poland i shared a flat with a german guy just of monte cassino - he was in poland setting up a subsidury for a german company... project management touble shooting type venture...

hes now one of my best friends... i remember his favourite saying of the poles at that time was 'are you stupid or just ignorant?'... not only did he hit the nail on the head, as many young germans do, but he also asks a question very relevent to you and your people ola...

but in your case ola, as someone who hasnt got a clue what they are talking about, i think the answer is both...

foreign investors feel no guilt - without us poland would be moving more slowly than it is now... someone has to pull the country up to standard and it sure aint gonna be people like you
