statek larger than łódź

but you wouldn't have a łódź larger than a statek - if you think about the deck thing, because how big a boat can you get without a deck?

don't forget about tratwa - raft :)

instrumental - tratwą?

łódź (boat) instrumental=łodzią
plural łodzie instrumental plural=łodziami

łódka (small boat) instrumental= łódką
statek (ship) instrumental=statkiem

and:

okręt (warship) instrumental=okrętem.

łódź: is it masculine, or feminine or neutre - if you look at the nominativ, it looks m, but if you look at the instrumental, it looks feminine? i'm confused?

and - how big a boat would łódź be? boat can be pretty much anything?

okręt - plural okręty? (btw - thanx for adding to my load ;) as if i don't have enough to work on :/ :P

What is the difference between

łódź = ?? also plural form?
łódka = boat (little rowing?)
statek = ship

instrumental = łódź(i)em?
instrumental = łódką
instrumental = statkiem

i want to know if there are nouns for morning(s), afternoon(s) just like there is for evening(s) = wieczór / wieczory (if i'm not mistaken)

południe = noon, midday, south (as far as i know)

po południu = in the afternoon (as far as i know)

do you have a polish word for afternoon(s) as a noun, na przykład

I have polish lessons some afternoons, so I'm not sure whether I'll be able to go see the movie. (I must first find out what my timetable would be for next week.)

same for morning(s) and evenings?

evening = wieczór / wieczory ?

"czym" is an Instrumental case of "coś".

czym instrumental of both of these? or do i just ignore the first one?

Polly - please go to youtube and look for bulls babes (the cheer leaders of the blue bulls rugby team) - there's a clip of them doing their thing on the rugby field before or after a game. with all due respect Wojtek - grow up. YOU are going to make your own success or failure, not your Polish name. As far as I can figure, companies in the UK, for example, grab Polish people to work for them because they work hard? Your Polish name could be an assett rather than a liability. But hey - just my opinion.

I wouldn't go through the process of changing your name because some people can't pronounce it. Marcin is your name and other people should learn how to pronounce it.

I'm not Polish - I'm South African and people miss-pronounce my name as well. I'm not going to change it because of other people though. My name has been part of who I am for as long as I have been in this world.

I may be wrong, but can't help but think that some Polish people want to change their names to English because they think English to be fashionable - and American even better. Yugg!! (No offense to all the lovely American people on the forum and elsewhere. I'm just saying be authentic, and be proud of your origins and of what your country have been through, and where you are now compared to 20 years ago.) The same thing happens in South Africa. Polish people have so much to be proud of. You have gone through so much over the centuries, and yet you have survived as a nation, every time. Be proud of your heritage, be proud of being Polish, be proud of your name!

... and that he (borrowed boyfriend of course) kisses you so hard (in front of current boyfriend) that you gasp for breath ;P Then tell him 'that you know', make the clean break and be happy in yourself first - with who YOU are. If you are happy in yourself, you will radiate that - and it will attract someone special to you - someone who might be worthy of you and your love ;)
