Love / Are Polish men more loyal than English men? [38]

We are probably more "Old School" and hold some of the older ideals a bit more to heart. I know this is definitely true with most, not all, American men. I don't know many English people so all I can help with is my Americano friends.

USA, Canada / The 2nd Amendment (USA), the right to own guns [261]

i like my guns and don't you thread on my ak47 or m16 rifles

My father has one in Poland from his old army days :]

Boy! That was long winded, wasn't it?

But well said, great arguements. I agree with everything you said. My father, grandfather, and uncles were all avid hunters in Poland back in the day, but my father stopped hunting here. I went a few times with my uncles and its a great experience.

About the little kids and guns. Statistics show that children who are educated about how deadly a gun is are less likely to "play" with it like a "toy" so I advise you teach them about it, at the age you see fit of course.

remember that a lot of americans are complete nuttas and own guns - you should have guns to protect yourself from all the other people who own guns

True. Depends on where you live though. You have to know the laws very well too. If a man breaks into your home, and starts stealing your things and makes no attempt at harming you, and you shoot him, he can sue you for a lot of money. The laws are all twisted around so nobody can know them all.

the key word is used to be

And eventually things will change in the Middle East. We moved on, they will too. Nothing is forever. All it takes is a spark to set off a whole chain of events.

Heard of Rosa Parks?

Yes, that is different from today, but all we can do is say we don't like it. Things are slowly changing there, very slowly, but they will get better.

All I am saying is that it is not all of them. There are those who just want to live in peace.

USA, Canada / The 2nd Amendment (USA), the right to own guns [261]

to many people abuse.. its not worth the fight.. not to me.

It's not even close to a majority of the people who own guns, not even 10%, its a bunch of retards who ruin things for others. Everyone knows that alcohol and guns don't mix.

As stupid as this sounds to some: Guns don't kill people, people do. It is so true. Take away the guns, and they'll still kill. Why don't we just outlaw knives, and blunt objects, or send people to prison for making a fist. Better yet, lets all wear bubble suits so we can't pick anything up to kill each other with. Take away the cars, ropes, and anything that can be used to kill.

no I dont, after one was held to my head, and it was supposed to be for hunting
and I watched my life pass before me over and over till he fell asleep..

I'm sorry that happened to you, but some people are just plain dumb. You can't blame them all for the occasional retard.

Were you more afraid of the gun, or the guy holding it?

All technology is neutral. It becomes good or evil when humans apply it. We have to keep this in mind with everything.

USA, Canada / The 2nd Amendment (USA), the right to own guns [261]

well, of course you do. As I said before the right is there, the crazy and less crazy people with guns are dangerous. I wponder what the statistics are when it comes to the number of death when the guns were used in self defence - it is such an American logic.

One out of every 3,000 gun owners (legal or illegal owner) will shoot a person (accidentally or intentionally)

That of course is when you add the estimated number of people thought to own guns illegally, like gangs.

It is very low if you take only the legal gun owners.

Unfortunatley, they end up in Canada and the rates of gun crime has gone up, so my answer is NO.

But those people own them illegally, and will still have those guns if Hillary gets her way or not. All she will do is take them away from people who have done nothing wrong with their guns.

USA, Canada / The 2nd Amendment (USA), the right to own guns [261]

But then telling the American to give up his gun is like telling him to have his hand amputated;)

Lol. 1/3 of America hunts. Its a big part of the culture, why should it be illegal?

you have the right but is it wise Gato?

Some people use guns for the wrong reason, and any gun owner will tell you they hate those people, but the average gun owner is an outdoorsmen/huntsmen type of person.

difference is its not acceptable in any christian culture

Not true. The KKK is a perfect example. They are devout Southern Baptists and then they say that all n*ggers, chinks, and gays should be killed. Some of them still kill. One especially cruel form is a "F@g Drag" where they tie the victim to the back of a truck and drag them to their death.

While it's not accepted by the US government, that community sees nothing wrong with it.

Every group of people has its idiots. Regardless of race, culture, religion, etc.

Sadly, some aspects of Middle Eastern culture are very cruel, but there are some people that say giving a convicted serial killer the death penalty is cruel. If man kills others outside of war or self defense, should he not suffer the same fate?

Westerners used to be just as cruel as some middle-easterners today, but most of the western world moved on. The middle east will too. Its always been a turbulant place, and it still is today.

While I disagree with some of their rules and laws, we can't really do anything about it. Unless you want the Pope to call some kind of "Moral Crusade"

I see why you are bothered by the treatment of women in the Arabic world, but don't put them all in the same group. Many middle eastern people are very kind and only want peace.

USA, Canada / The 2nd Amendment (USA), the right to own guns [261]

This is for anyone, American, Polish, or from the UK, doesn't matter. In the Constitution of the US the second Amendment gives US citizens the right to own guns. Some say it is merely for militias, others say it is for anyone.

I believe that any American has the right to own guns:

1) Hunting - biased documents from D.C. keep saying hunting is recreational, but do hunters go out, shoot the deer, and then leave it be? No, they eat the deer. How is getting food recreation?

2) Safety - tons of bad places in the world, people will want to kill you, and I understand if you want a handgun for safety.

3) Assault rifles - this is where I draw the line. Why the f*ck would you need an M16 in your home? Are you frequently inder siege by your neighbor? Not likely, so I agree with this one.

The thing is, Hillary Clinton is against ALL firearms, hunting rifles and pistols, and will most likely try to ban them if elected. My question is, how do you feel about it???

Do you believe we have a right to own firearms, or not?

and i am not belittling anyone for anything. my initial response was to the poster that implied to find "truth" we need to read the koran

I didn't say you did. I just quoted you for my initial response about the different readings.

Everything after that was for anyone interested in reading on.

so elixa tell me if this is true, when muslim women get raped, are they not blamed for it. _Are they sometimes forced to get married to the rapist?

It's not a muslim thing, it's more of a middle-eastern thing. A lot of them just happen to be muslim, that's all.

Laws of the country decide legal punishment.

are you saying that if i read the koran/bible i will know more about the world i live in?

Same story, different characters.

I'm a very devout Catholic, but if you are interested in "finding the truth" there are many muslim and buddhist texts you can read, not only Christian.

"The Teachings of Rumi" is an excellent source. It's not something that purely preaches one religion, but preaches about life and how to live it. "Treat others the way you want to be treated" and those kinds of things. Very deep meanings. A personal favorite of mine is "The Goal is One" (which everyone in this thread could learn from if they read it)

Also, Plato's "Republic" is a very good one. Teaches all the same things. Like all things in life, you have to find the answer. It's not just going to be given to you. Everyone has to find their own asnwers, and be happy with it, and not try to belittle others for the answers they found.

Love / Polish-Islam Relationship Union [450]

I'm a bit appalled at the anti-Islam/Middle Eastern/Asian attitude here but I just wanted to give my opinion on Polish-Muslim relationships.

Socially, Poland is a little behind countries like America and the UK. During soviet occupation Poles weren't exposed very much to anything not "White-European" so at first, blacks felt a lot of racism (some probably still do, sad but true) and Poland is a very Catholic country. They have a huge population of practicing Catholics, so they aren't going to be very friendly to anything other than Christians for a good while.

It's a sad truth, but you have to give Poland time. Anything different tends to scare people, and that's pretty much the situation here. I'm sure after a few years it will be like any other country.

I would be interested on how Poland ( and others ) looks back on this episode in history.

Genealogy / Polish surname meanings and origins [25]

I just want to know all I can about my family before all the people who do know pass on. One grandfather already died, 2 don't seem to have much time left, and the other, my Big Momma, doesn't show it, but if you look into her eyes you can tell she is tired. The only thing keeping any of those 3 going is that they want to see their grandkids grow up, all of us.

I've got some older uncles and aunts who can still tell stories, but they haven't lived through nearly as much as my grandparents. Born in the 30s and only about 10 of those years have been peaceful for them. Before he passed away, my grandfather said that out family is cursed with bad timing. They were born before WW2, my father was born into Russian occupation, and we were born into unrest in the middle east. He was a great guy, and I can't imagine not having the other 3 grandparents. They're the only thing keeping this family together.

We're like the white version of Madea's family.

Game over for senator...

Yes there are kids involved..My two beautiful girls

Yup. Thought so. Another troll fresh off the boat you guys!!!
Enjoy you're stay while you can senator, your kind don't last long. If you honestly want us to believe her husband believes her daughters are his, but are really yours, you've got to be retarded. Just go away, watch some more soap operas, come up with a fresh idea, and possibly try again and not make it look so obvious next time.

UK, Ireland / Anti-Polish sentiment of England [253]

Polish people are generally quite hostile and so are many British people. Thats why the Poles like it in England, becuase they are cold hearted. In contrast us Romanians are more open hearted and friendly. Polish people are like Russians, they have similar attitudes and mentality. Mabey the British should come to Romania: its the not been invaded by Poles (yet). Romanains don't like the Polish (begging the British people for jobs and money) and I hope that they don't come to Romania.

If Polish people don't like Romanians its because of people like you, who spread filth, and still get nowhere in life. Enjoy the rest of your miserable existance.

:]

-The cold hearted Pole, who is more like a Russian, and has absolutely no British friends because he begs for jobs too much.

Polish lace underwear???

would it be by injection then? :)

OMG... well done eurola. :D :D or possibly by splashing? ;)

HAHAHAHA....man I missed this place :]

kelbasza! I hate that. That is so not healthy

WTF. You know, my parents always tell me that they were perfectly healthy until they moved into the US. Then, all of a sudden they had high cholestoral and what not. It's all BS. Eat what you want. F*ck everyone else.

You're just saying it's unhealthy because it tastes great, and God forbid, has calories. WTF. We need calories to live, so people decide to starve themselves and get less of this vital nutrient. Makes no sense to me.

our kielbasa is way, way more healthy then the crap that passes for one here in regular stores. it is also way tastier. :)

The 11th commandment: "Though shalt not forgeteth to eateth thine God given sausage"

7 plastrów prosze seems to do the trick

I was taught that phrase before I could speak English (In America). Gotta love the Urbaniak Bros. Meat Market

Krakus ham

Delicious...when made traditionally. There's also Polish chopped ham which is great. Polish food has got to be a gift from God. When you can eat a slice of cold lunch meat and a slice of bread and enjoy yourself, you know you've found something worthwhile.

Genealogy / Polish surname meanings and origins [25]

Almost moved to Doylestown, where there is a Polish Church with a painting of the Madonna from Częstochowa.

There's a church in Erie that holds a Polish festival each year, but most of the Poles are driven away by a couple of the, umm, "photo negatives" who like to show up and buy cheap beer and get really drunk. Other than that its fun. Nothing wrong with black people, it's just that this group can't hold liquor to save their life, so everybody (not just Poles) get a bit upset about it.

I found this interesting and it may be useful for some of you:

Couldn't find my name. Or my mother's maiden name.

Genealogy / how many know their own family histories? [139]

I have to go by stories that I hear at family get togethers like Xmas dinner, Easter, etc. There is absolutely nothing about us on the internet. Supposedly, we have family that came to America in the 1920s, but I doubt they would even care about being Polish anymore, thats 3 generations to get "Americanized" as I call it. I was thinking about writing a letter to them or actually going to see them, but figured they would be too distant from their Polish roots. I'm happy with the family that sticks together. All 1,000 of us, or something like that. If I take both sides of the family and added up all the people, we would be really close to that number. Both are rare last names, but damn we like to have kids.

My mother has had the least amount of kids so far in our family's history in the past 100 and some odd years. Just my brother and me. It's hard to imagine having about 3 more of him.

Also, as a little side note. A couple years back, they used to say there are nothing but girls in my family, but then my father and his uncles were born, they all had son's except the youngest, Grzeg, my mother's brother had son's, his daughter's even had sons, and all of my recent cousins are male. This leads me to believe that a rather large war is coming. Anybody else familiar with the Polish saying: "In times of war, boys are born."

Just a little something to think about.

:]
