??? zakopane???? i'm no aficianado but you might want to re-evaluate that one.

Why should he re-evaluate? I love Zakopane. I'm not creating a debate topic here. If you like it ..post it.

Travel / Most Amazing places in Poland. What does it for you? [90]

There are a couple of other places that grabbed my attn.:

Biskupin (Biskupin - a settlement from the turn of the Bronze Age and the Early Iron Age (750 - 600 BC.)

Malbork castle
Many of you from PL have travelled here for school at one point in time I'm sure, but this place is also missed by many tourists.

hahah understood :) My photobucket isn't working anyway. i need to post pics above.

I have several from kolobrzeg. I may be back next month....one of the BAltic beaches anyway. I did like the bar/club that's on the beach there.

Nowa Chuta.

Lublin. Best city in Poland.

I know there are many facinating cities, but I'm looking for a specific site or place within these cities that grabs your attn. Don't mean to be a stickler, but there are many "favorite city" topics.

What struck you as the most amazing place in Poland? Was it a specific cathedral? landmark? cave? River? Monuement?

For me, it is Wieliczka salt mine. Yeah, a lot of people have been there and may seem like no big deal, but for me, this place is amazing and to think everything within was worked by hand and some things of free will like the statues.

What does it for you?

UK, Ireland / Polish parents hang themselves at their Lincoln, UK home [66]

Give m an example of british couples killing themselves because they could not hack the job markt

Don't tell me that no one in the UK has comitted suicide due to losing work...that would be a lie. It happens everywhere. Unfortunately, this was a horrible way to leave the children.

USA, Canada / POLISH AMERICANS AND THE 2008 US ELECTION [79]

I didn't know you've lived here Lesser. How are you so keen on American politics?

This is what politicians want, more ignorant voters, because they are the easiest target to convince.

Well, that's their job. They need to convince people that their the right choice. Don't people in Germany vote? Isn't it the same idea? Have you never been convinced to vote for someone? Maybe I've misunderstood what you're saying because it doesn't make much sense to me.

USA, Canada / POLISH AMERICANS AND THE 2008 US ELECTION [79]

Don`t vote for any USA politician

BUSH is what happens when not everyone votes. Unfortunately it's not that simple. There are record breaking numbers this year for voting/political research by younger Americans.

You shouldn't believe everything you read in news articles Crow...I thought you knew better.

Travel / Small Baltic coast places - where to stay ? [25]

Sarbinowo is great - peaceful and quite, but with nightlife too!

Yeah, I like Sarbinowo :) Not too much of a nightlife unless there's an event on the beach or sth. It's either there or take the path/beach to Chłopy. I think the club in Chłopy is a bit better. The one in Sarbinowo was filled with mirrors and girls watching themselves dance....by themselves because it was empty :) I'm sure some of you would enjoy that.

Life / Taking gifts to Poland [21]

I know that with some younger -15, a calendar from where you live is nice. I was bringing NYC calendars and they loved them. Just an idea.

Life / Taking gifts to Poland [21]

Are there any food items, perfumes, lotions, etc. that are hard to come by?
How about chocolates?

You can get just about all the same stuff. I'd say to just focus on local things. Don't they sell books for the duck tour or sth? A Boston city picture book etc..

Life / Taking gifts to Poland [21]

I'll start the list.

A bottle of your local brew (spirits)

Something traditional to your area

I'd have to agree. Maybe shoot over to VT and grab some Maple Syrup or Maple butter.

You can take Jack Daniels, but they can get that anywhere in PL. I did bring some JD single Barrel which was a hit, but I'm sure you can also find that. I also bring local micro brew beer.

News / Why are foreigners coming to Poland and from which countries? [119]

Turns out he thinks America sucks

I can't say it sucks. I don't like the way the country is being run, but it doesn't suck. Just for the fact that I can enjoy Snowboarding, go to the beach or hang out in NYC all within an hr makes it a fun place to live, but I do think we need to experience sth different.

I'd like to try living in PL, not because I hate America, but because I can :) I think since we all share this planet, we should all be able to experience different ways of life.

I'm more interested in going to PL to open a business. I see some opportunity there, but im sure there a many obsticles and I wouldn't go unless everything's sorted. I'd hate to be a visitor and end up on the streets. Must prepare well IMO.

Travel / How Can I Not be the "Ugly American" Tourist in Poland? [97]

Yeah, we've already covered the whole "inside voice" thing ;)

You can't blame all Americans for a careless few. Most of us attempt Polish as it's much easier in the pub after tossing a few pints back :)

Dont talk loud, like most Americans

He may have to in order to be heard above the German tourists :P I think he'll be ok, he doesn't seem to be out for a party.

Honestly, I don't like to talk to other Americans while I'm visiting. It takes away from the experience :) So, I avoid at all costs.....you won't be there in Aug-Sept will you Rakky?

Love / BLACK GUYS POLISH WOMEN [809]

I guess my real question is; "What is Black culture?" I mean, like any group, many of its members have different values and sentiments, why do we contribute things as "being Black?"

Well, I guess that would depend on where the person originated. Black culture can be pretty broad IMO. African culture, Jamaican culture, American culture Haitian...etc.

Can I, as a white person, not like jazz? Or soul? I

What kind of question is this? Who said anything about rules?
