History / US snubs Poland over WW II ceremony? [75]

Maybe Poland should have a Memorial Day too, and commemorate ALL the wars that Poland participated in over history.

If we had as many as you had just in the past century we would have to adopt your model too. You barely finished celebrating bicentennial and how many military conflicts have you participated in as a nation? Do you even know? Here's a clue, if each conflict lasted as long as WWII did that would mean that throughout your entire existence you're in a constant state of war without a break. No wonder you don't remember and you have to lump them all together, otherwise it's hard to keep track of them all. So thanks for the suggestion but we will decide for ourselves as to what should we celebrate and what we should not.

That is petty. Period.

The kind of **** you people cry over is not.

I can tell you why Obama isn't going to Poland this week. It's because Putin will be there and he doesn't want to take away the spotlight. It's Russia's time in Poland.

When I hear statements like this one it really makes me wonder. Can someone remind me one more time how did the US managed to get to where they are now?

Obama's not going because of almost 10% unemployment, war in central Asia.

You really believe that don't you?

It's really of no consequence though. If the US brought Jesus Christ, Poles would be miffed John The Baptist wasn't doing the keynote speech.

This would take some doing and some miracle to pull off, don't you worry about that anymore you are fresh out of miracles. From now on, it's all downhill for you guys.

UK, Ireland / Poland Flying the Flag at Gay Pride in Manchester [75]

Some local was flying that flag in hopes that he can score some polish a**. You don't find that many of those in Poland so all I have to say; your chances are slim to none. I find it hard to believe that some Pole would be so screwed up and fly our national flag at such an event.

aparently they want to abolish the ban on gay marriage in Poland

It will never happen, no matter how much the rest of UE would like to see that happen.

I heard that the Uk was becoming a haven for Polish homosexuals.

Good you can keep them.

Language / Possibly, probably, definitely, certainly not. [6]

na pewno – certainly

also z pewnością, oczywiście, naturalnie
być może, może would mean (maybe) be careful here because może być means (it will do)
być może, może, możliwe, prawdopodobnie also mean (perhaps)

Could someone also clear up usage of "może", "może być" and "możliwy"?

Most common use for these are:
może = (maybe or perhaps)
być może = (maybe or perhaps)
może być = (it will do)
możliwie = (possibly, conceivably) but also in a phrase like możliwie jak najwcześniej/najszybciej (at your earliest convenience)

ni ch**a - no way

much nicer way of saying this is nie ma mowy, nie da rady, niemożliwe but your way works too and there is no way someone could mistaken it for something else. You could also say nie ma mocnych meaning it's impossible.

News / Russia opens archives and Poland demands minority rights from Germany [60]

Don't blame the Germans for doing what Poland asked them to do.

LOL

Your fight is with the Russians: they stole your money.

Russia did not steal that money, Germans simply paid off what they owed to Russia and burden of proof is on them. If they indeed paid off their debt they should have the receipts from Polish government, you just don't transfer money without any proof do you.

if you owed something to John and John asked you to give it to Dorota because she was going to pass it on to him and Dorota stole it, you wouldn't owe anything to John (or for John): Dorota is the one who would owe him the money and John shouldn't have been stupid enough to trust the lying b!tch.

Your analogy is flawed, we are all grown up now and if we owe money it usually means a bank not Johnny, even if that was the case why would you give the money to Dorota. If you pay your loan off to bank X while the loan was taken with bank Y, did you really paid off that loan? Bank Y dose not give a fvck who you give the money to even if it's Dorota, all it knows you did not pay off your loan and it has the right to kick you out of the house, after all the house belongs to the bank. Any court of law will side with the bank Y, if that's the case, the burden of proof is on you to prove to the court whether or not you paid off your loan to bank Y, in which case you should have your receipt. Even you can't be that stupid Harry, as for the Germans if they indeed paid it to the Soviets (bank X in this case or Dorota) they have as much common sense as you do.

No, Poland was taken by the Soviets.

No Poland was betrayed by, you know who.

History / WHO WILL REPRESENT THE USA AT WESTERPLATTE? [28]

If they can't be bothered to send a fitting representative to mark the start of one of your wars

This is as much our war as it is theirs, infect this is everyone's war. Using soldiers as a pawns in a political game is childish, besides I provided solution to this dilemma if you only cared to read past the first sentence.

History / WHO WILL REPRESENT THE USA AT WESTERPLATTE? [28]

What our forces in Afghanistan have do do with American no show at the WWII observance at Westerplatte. The solution is simple enough, treat them like you would any of your friends, after a few no shows you simply don't invite them over ever again.

News / Microsoft Poland whitens a black face in its advert [130]

I'm sure you did, but what did you hear about what's going on in Rwanda and Darfur or any other region in Africa where hundreds die every day. I bet not as much because it's in no ones interest to do so, if they did they might even be obligated to help and what kind of business is that when you give away something for free. These are more pressing issues which are conveniently ignored by big business, media and therefore by general population of the western world. Like anyone gives a dam?

You might be right about that, but on the other hand if it was so common how come I have not seen it with my own eyes or come to think of it have you? Or is it that you just read about it in a paper or internet article?

I cannot open the links cause they are blocked at work...but i will post them when im home

What links are those, the statistics are always manipulated especially now when big corporations want multiculturalism because they are in mead of cheap labor force. Commies used to say the same thing about the west, how west discriminates their own citizens of colour contrasting it with how people on this side of the Iron curtain live in harmony, blowing every incident out of proportion. Have you not heard of propaganda. It's in someones interest to do so, although it's not a complete lie it is exaggerated and blown out of proportion.

Tell you what, send your mother and/or your sister over (in all probably your mother and sister are the same person) and I'll prove to her that I can not be a Jew.

You can't, I remember reading here about the bars you frequent, so I know for a fact that you do not fancy women.

You really are a most pathetic throwback to the days of the pogrom.

And more of the same, yet still denying this fact. This is really amusing your hatred will not let you see your own racism. Because I'm just doing the same thing that you are. So if you're able to see that you should also see it in your own posts.

There are bigots everywhere, in some places you have them more and more extreme,

This is true for my country as much as for yours, as for the rest you're generalizing it, not basing it an anything concrete, jut repeating the stereotype. As it is your opinion that's fine, I could also make a general statement about your countrymen here but I wont.

Just pointing out the obvious, in case someone might have missed it. What's to debate there we have bigots like everyone else, but not everyone might know the fact that you are not very fond of Goys.

Yet still suggesting the Poles are racist.

Read carefully before you pass judgements on me.

I did, hanc my comments. Someone has to point out the obvious.

does not mean we bash white people...gosh....!!! where do you get all this crap!

From the light corneas bit, sarcasm with a hint of racism.

Yeah a pole would NEVER do such thing!

I did not say he would not do it, but at least he would not hide behind some pathetic excuse, besides the Polish moron boss would notice that the hands are still black. Not that he's perfectionist, how did you phrase it?

they have very light corneas and watching such a despicable dark sight might damage them

Then you go on and say something stupid like this quote

The fact that we do not like to bash people for their colour does not make us hypocrites. And just think for a bit, how bad it would be, if the few retarded that we have here (Holland in my case) would express their hatred...this would turn into no man's land, like russia or Spain, where racial attacks are usual.

Ah I see Poles are not colour so that makes it all right to bash them. Like I have said _______.

As far as i'm concern, the ones who photoshopped the photograph was Microsoft POLAND, not microsoft USA, or microsoft Holland. So there is no room for hypocrisy here.

Really, seems to me like it was done on the cheap by the management who did not want to spend the money on a new advertizing campaign. As we all know the top bosses are foreigners, they made the decision to paint the black guy white, so yes its stupidity and hypocrisy, very much so.

Mvefa - this just shows the hypocrisy on behalf of western countries. No matter how many laws you pass or how PC you present yourself to be, you can't escape true feelings and stupidity of an average Joe. Now the truth came out because some morons photo-shop skills were not up to the task, but did the best he could on the orders from his moron boss, you shift blame on Poland because you did not want to offend Polish people! How pathetic is that? Perhaps you should admit to yourselves that contrary to what you preach about multiculturalism, you're still not ready for it and underneath all this PC bull you're still the same old bigot as you used to be. Trust me, the world would be a much batter place if people were just honest about their true feelings. At least then you know where you stand.

UK, Ireland / What are Polish Peoples Views of a Re-United Ireland [80]

I agree that without Irish roots they would be less inclined to feel like the heirs to Irish republicanism or Irish Nationalism but the first point you have made is completely false, more likely they would be indifferent. Being indifferent does not put them in the enemy camp. Seems like the lines are well defined on both sides of the issue in Ireland, the people are very passionate about it and they are set in their conviction, therefore it's very important for you to educate the minority and sway their opinion to your cause, not to alienate them through extreme nationalism. Who knows how it will play out but if you ever make a peaceful attempt to reunite through some kind of referendum in the near future you will need all the support you can get of the local inhabitants of the land, no matter if they are Irish through and through or resent settlers there. If you choose armed struggle for the reunification of Ireland extreme nationalism plays a very important role and it's not necessarily a bad thing either, the choice is yours.

Being Polish makes me more sympathetic to your cause then you might think. However statements like this

Why would the Irish working class want to befriend the very people who are cutting their wages and living standards? You are living in multiculti la la land.

would make me think twice. I would simple have to be there and see how the locals view me because I don't think you represent the majority of Irish people. At the moment I'm not there so I'm indifferent but sympathetic.

Law / It is impossible to get temporary residency in Poland [23]

When I tried to register as an American it was 12 pages, much other documentation and 250pln(not exact amount). When someone from London registered it was one page and 30pln. I don't think he had to do to much more.

No use to complain about it when your own government dose the same thing. You have your own bureaucracy when someone wants to visit US and what you have stated above works the same way in reverse. If a British citizen wants to visit US there's no visa applications to fill no visa fees etc but when a Polish national wants to visit US he has to apply for a visa only to find out that it has been denied. So what makes you think that being an American makes you equal to a British citizen in the eyes of the Polish authorities? and the same rules, procedures and fees should apply to you when your own government makes the same distinction when it comes to the British and Polish nationals. No offence to you but Americans want to be treated as VIP's and have special privileges simply because they are American. If you ask me, there should be a policy of tit for tat when it comes to the restriction of travel between Poland and US. As we say “Jak Kuba Bogu, tak i Bóg Kubie.”

They are meeting the needs of the Poles. The Polish support group in NI lobbied for this. I thought they where all going home?

If you don't see any positive benefit to this program then look at it this way, at least you prepare them to go home eventually. Think positive.
