UK, Ireland / Tide turns as Poles end great migration [26]

do you think the majority of poles who went to the uk sent the greater part of their money home already (whilst still living and working in the uk) or do you think they will be bringing it home with them now?

do you think the majority of poles who went to the uk sent the greater part of their money home already (whilst still living and working in the uk) or do you think they will be bringing it home with them now?

i did when i bought my flat a year ago.lots of other people keep money here because they are afraid of the polish taxman and plan to go back to poland in the next 2 years.i'm afraid that this is just the beginning of the big vawe.lots of well educated people will go back(unless they already found their dream job here) because after saving some money they will realise that having a decent job is more important than earning a lot of money here.those people who left their family behind will go back quite soon too.

skilled trade people will stay here.at least most of them.if they do something what they would be doing back in poland it's better to stay in the uk.life is easier and better here in areas like the law, finances and taxes.

my prediction is that about 60-70% who came here will stay here for longer than 10 years

Life / Polish attitudes towards drinking alcohol [72]

Why is excessive drinking viewed in an okay light in polish culture?

for fuc,k sake.this is to all you brits and co.this is a very similar thread to a few other i already had(not) pleasure to read.before you ask again about alcohol problems among poles please open your eyes, wide, on friday, saturday or sunday night.you might notice that thousends of people on the streets and pubs are completely drunk,trying not to fall on their faces.having lived in poland and england for a long time i can reassure you that the problem with binge drinking in the uk is far greater than in poland!!!.especially drinking amongst children is a huge problem which your government so far failed to solve. highest pregnancy rate in europe among teens doesn't just come from carefull family planning but it's partly to blame on excessive drinking.look into a mirror.you guys,at least,most of you get reguraly drunk during weekends.don't you?stop writing this cra'p.there is a link for you guys;

guardian.co.uk/society/2008/jan/23/youngdrinkers

and something from another page
The number of alcohol-related deaths has increased threefold between 1991 and 2004. The number of discharges from general hospitals with a diagnosis of acute intoxication or harmful use of alcohol has risen by nearly 50% over the past 10 years. Concerted action is not simply desirable - it is essential. Alcohol is one of our biggest killers, and we would be failing in our duty if we didn't focus on it.

News / When the currency of Poland to change into Euro? [14]

don't worry michal.we are used to it.we had something like 800% inflation after 1989 and still are alive and kicking.we know about the effect that euro made in other countries but mind you most of the prices in poland are already close or higher than in any other eu country

News / When the currency of Poland to change into Euro? [14]

i just don't know how can we be not affected by any of the financial crisis in europe and america?who's going to gain when zloty is that strong?if zloty is so strong now and we import most of things are even more expensive than before?

i expected pound do go down against zloty cos the amount of money we send from the uk to poland but from 5.80 to 4.60 in a few months?that's weird

News / Polish C-295M Crash [47]

so that would be,didnt crash then? Or,landed ....BTW,link please,not heard a whisper about this aleged incident,what airline etc?

it almost crashed.we call it "near miss"i think and it's as important as the crash itself.it mean that there was something wrong but someone was lucky.i read about it in the sun.

nevermind thoug.that was just an answer to michal's accusation that planes have technical problems just in poland.

anyway,
just wanted to tell you guys that one of the pilots was an ex-neighbour of my wife.i know his brother,we used to go to school together.he wasn't meant to fly this plane.another's pilot health card has expired and he was asked to replace him.bad luck isn't it?

there is one more thing.it may be funny for some of you but i'm dead serious.my wife had a dream about teeth a night before the crash.our friend,who is into dreams,ghosts,death ect stuff told us some time ago that this dream means that someone would die.my wife was a bit worried so that she phoned her mum and asked if something bad had happened.mum said "no" cos at the time she didn't know that this guy was on board of this plane.we learned today that was him.this is the second time when someone had this dream and someone died next day.is it coincidence? .it send shivers down my spine.anyone else had similar experience?

News / Polish C-295M Crash [47]

you are a real retard michal.the only crash that happened and i remember in my 31 years long life is the one from early 80's when a famous polish singer anna jantar died.at this times most of our fleet were russian aeroplanes(i think tupolevs).after 1989 the LOT airlines have changed their planes to the newest available and keep buying airbuses and boeings.we are in star alliance now.why anybody would let as join if LOT wasn't safe?

edit;
there is a link.sry the aeroplane was ilyushin.

Travel / Exchanging the Australian dollar in Krakow? [6]

all of the guys gave you very good advice.i'd like to add that you might get the best rate in the kantor.it all depends on how much money you want to exchange.if it's a lot (say 15000-20.000aud or more but it could be much less than that) your rate maybe really good.you can't haggle in the bank.they are very unflexible.a few months ago i was selling some british ponds and got 1 to 5.41 rate in the kantor.in the bank the rate was 5.31.

one more thing.you will get the best rate on saturday before 9 am.don't ask me why:)this is what the kantor owner told me.

News / Will Poland become green? [122]

But I still think it's wrong to destroy forrests for profit.

i don't really know too much about cutting destroying forrests for profits but cutting down and burning them for agriculture purposes is another "burning" matter.these 2 things have probably a lot in common.

i never said that i do agree with cutting down trees in africa,south america ect.that's why i wrote that the eu, instead of telling us,the citizens that we are guilty of everything and we have to pay more and more so called green taxes it should pay less in subsidies to the eu farmers and buy food from poorer countries eg in africa.these green taxes are not used for anything good.all of them go ,here in the uk,straight to mr browns pocket.

these money could be spend on better tools and more efficient/less poisonous fertilizers=one piece of land can be cultivated for many years.people wouldn't have to burn,or cut down forests.

i also agree with recycling putting filters on chimneys ect.a lot has been done in poland so far and more could be done.waters are much cleaner now,air is less polluted as well because we have invested in newer thechnologies;example?AZOTY SA in pulawy se poland.a chemical plant have killed almost everything in the radious of 2 miles. you wouldn'd see a bird nearby.now this place thriving with life(my friend works there and i know this area)we just need to keep going in this direction.
