UK, Ireland / Modern Plantation for Poles in Ireland [352]

Call it what you like but at the end of the day it's a seperate country and that makes 32 an immigrant.

I was born In Donegal and lived there for the first 18 months of my childhood. My parrents moved to Tyrone after their third child was born. Unless I have absolutely no understanding of geography on this little island......I was born in Ulster which is part of 'Ireland' and not the occupied 6 counties you refer to.

Revo given that Ireland 32 comes from Northern Ireland which is part of the UK, surely that makes him an immigrant?

Should he be sent home?

I never said I was born in the 6 counties?. There are 9 counties in Ulster, something my fellow provincial neighbours forget from time to time.

I can't really answer that question. Why don't you ask your employees?

They are better of here than at home in Poland

Respect Ireland32, good to see a fellow patriot on here.

I am merely entering the debate. It does not mean I agree with your views. There are alot of patriots in Ireland......armchair patriots. My views are my own personal beliefs. Freedom of speech. Something else we had to fight for in Ireland. The right to be heard.

The sinn fein the south of ireland take nothing to with matters in the North,

Untrue. We are one party with one leader. Policies in the north may differ from the south but the goal is the same.....a 32 county socialist republic.

By the way...I am a nordie living in the south.

do not take pleasure from exchanging insults on Internet foras but I will
not watch idly as some nutjobs talk crap about my fellow countrymen
working their arses off abroad to support their families and pay their mortgages.

[quote=Torq]Actually I do. I learned a lot about Irish history during my stay in your country
(mostly from your fellow compatriots) and as I stated many times before I have
a lot of respect and admiration for Ireland

For the record I am a manager in a company that employs over 80 polish workers here in Ireland, most of whom work hard and support their families.....but when they loose their job why stay in Ireland? If they are here to work, pay mortgage, what is the point?

Then don't quote it like your a son of Cromwell please. Irelands patriot dead should be honoured for the sacrifices they made. Respect.

Well, at least Poles all speak their native language. I can't say the same about Irish.
You were owned by the Brits - killed, imprisoned, scorned and treated like animals,
and what did you do? You started speaking their language, watching their TV and
supporting their football teams. How disgusting.

I have many friends who were killed as a result of the conflict in Ireland and I take that comment quite personal. What did we do? Do you know anything about Irish history you numb nut. How many Poles registered to vote in the recent local elections in Ireland.....very few as they are not concerned about our country. Like you said....here to pay the mortgage and smoke L & M's.

Mo Chara, fuair se i do phipe as caith e.

Most of my friends who worked
abroad have already come back to Poland too and those who are still in Ireland
plan to come back in 1-2 years time as soon as they save enough money or
have their mortgages in Poland paid.

Milking our economy dry and sending the money home. At least the Irish who immigrate to foreign shores spend within theat county and most of them stlle for life. Look at America, Austrailia etc.

The poles have done nothing to support the economy here in Ireland....and they want their language to be recognised as third language !! Never

Love / Whose Life is it? Polish girlfriend under family "house arrest" [224]

Anyway condolences for being caught up in such a **** situation. Maybe some of the expats on here could pay this guy a visit on your behalf....

Remember I know him. He worked at the factory where I am one of the managers. He is a physco. I know where he lives in Poland......have thought about it but agnieszka hates violence. that is what pushed her away from him in the first place. If only he would accept that and move on. Instead he blames me. Im the scape goat for his physco tendancies.

I didn't mean to pry, I was just looking through threads, catching up and got a bit curious.

No worries SeanBm. I rememeber you assisted me with some translations of the texts a couple of months ago.

She is a very special woman. Believe me. He was her first and only boyfriend til we met. I know this from her and her sister (still lives here). As far as he is concerned 'The lights are on but nobody's home !!

What ever happened here?.
Just curious.

Heard from agnieszka few times. Last Tuesday was last time. Hear from the man ex nearly every week. They not together although he's trying his best but to no avail. He's knows I am the thorn in his side so he keeps fishing to see if we have been in touch and to find out what happened with us. I dont answer him. I got interpol onto him due to threatening texts. Those stopped for a while buts he's at it again. Sends me texts telling me he is in jail as he hurt Agnieszka and she is in hospital very ill. He trys to provoke a reaction from me.

I know you all think this is OTT and ******** but its true. We will wait as long as it takes for the dust to settle. Not easy but we will be together.

UK, Ireland / What do Polish people think of Ireland and the Irish? [50]

Looks like people from the republic of Ireland are OK and these from NI not.

Jasus your comments get more hilarious by the post.

I lived in the 6 counties in the North for most of my life until 6 years ago when I moved to the 26 counties (Republic of Ireland)

Where do I fit into your analysis ?

Im afraid Seanus is quite right. There are people in the north who would like to see a return to past conflict. They dont know anything else. They see it as there change to get back to criminal activity and extortion.

They will use any excuse to go back.

Rock the peace process in NI and you'll get what's coming to you.

This is my one big fear out of this situation. There are shady characters on both sides of the divide in North who are just waiting for a chance to kick the whole thing off. I was up there today and things are tense. Unlike i've seen for a long time.

Sadly I can't wait to leave this freezing cold dump and hope never to come here again. :-(

I sympathise with your situation but we are not all the same. what part of the North are you living in ?

No mention of the other victims or do you condone that portion?

As I have previously stated on the thread that originally carried this story, I condemned the murder of the British Soldiers and indeed the PSNI Officer who were murdered by these idiots. They do not represent the wishes of the majority of the Republican community and the entire community in Ireland......North and South.

Henry McDonald The Guardian,

Friday 10 April 2009

Local units of the two main loyalist terror organisations in Northern Ireland were behind events that have seen 40 Polish migrant workers flee in recent weeks, the Guardian has learned.

Members of the Ulster Volunteer Force and the Ulster Defence Association in south Belfast organised the intimidation of the Poles over the past fortnight, security sources in the city said.

The attacks on Polish homes in south Belfast were believed to be in response to an outbreak of hooliganism by soccer fans from Poland during last month's World Cup qualifier at Windsor Park.

Before the crucial Northern Ireland versus Poland match in Belfast on March 28, a group of Polish hooligans smashed up pubs and attacked local fans.

The Police Service of Northern Ireland released figures yesterday revealing that in the aftermath of the soccer violence at least 40 Polish nationals had to flee their homes in the south of the city.

Well, it wouldn't have made sense to take revenge

They chose not to tar us all with the same brush due to the actions of a minority. In the same way the people of Belfast and throughout the North should choose to do so with the majority of Polish people, who like most of us in our time, have travelled to foreign soils to earn a crust.

the idiocy of the few spoils it for the many

Like the idiots who shot the Polish Worker. Thankfully the Polish community showed restraint over the issue and should be commended for doing so.

If the above story is true then its a disgrace and sadly as you say deja vu

Totally agree. As you know when times were hard in this country we populated every country we could in search of work. There are communities of people from Ireland all over the world.

I will ask a question ' when the Polish Worker was shot by the RIRA, did the Polish community in Belfast lash out against Republicans and furthermore where Irish people in Poland victimised as a result of this incident ?

I have alot of friends in the unionist community most of whom do not have their heads in the sand.

But this all seems like deja vu in Belfast dont you think ?

Love / Whose Life is it? Polish girlfriend under family "house arrest" [224]

Udate...update...update.

For those of yyou who are interested the physco ex is up to his antics again. Agnieszka rang her manager today to ask how the wedding went on Friday (the wedding she was to go to). During the conversation her manager asked if she had rang me lately........immediately the ex took the phone and began shouting down the phone.

Since then he has sent her texts in Polish calling her alsorts and I have had 6 calls and one text...again threatening me and my son and that he would do it tonight.........Time for me to go to Police.........I would appreciate some logical responses to this 'doing my head in saga'
