I've actually never ate a Kebab i know it's Turkish and is from lamb, but how does it taste? is it good?

News / Poland-Turkey Relations, a youtube comment [84]

Whatever their motives were, they supported us, even though they were our
long time enemy. It may only have been a verbal and diplomatic support but
still it was more than we got from any other country.

so, even if it was self serving then that is all that matters?

News / Poland-Turkey Relations, a youtube comment [84]

Turkey was the only country in the world that opposed and never acknowledged the partitions of Poland. Allegedly (I'm not sure if it's true or just a legend) Turkish sultans, during those 123 years (1795-1918), during their annual meetings with foreign diplomats asked "Did the envoys from Lechistan arrive?", driving the Prussian, Austrian and Russian diplomats mad :)

out of empathy or because this meant that strategically russia was closer to the balkans which the ottoman empire then controlled?

News / Polish engineer beheaded in Pakistan. [347]

Whatever gave you that impression? Ha Ha! The fact is that the millions of Muslims in Indonesia live together with millions of people of other faiths and do not have a problem with them. A fact borne out by the Indonesians of all faiths who I have worked with. Now run back to your joss sticks and yoga videos little girl.

my girlfriend is indonesian (of chinese descent), the stories she has told me about the riots give me the opposite feeling and the reason her parents sent her to australia to study.

she says there is still an uderlying simmering of tensions and that chinese are still targets.

Love / How can a black man get a Polish women [248]

If you find members of another race more attractive, that is your business. But it shows you have fetish and reflects on how you view your people in a negative way. You ever heard of ther term white washing? It is something non-whites do when they select a white spouse. They purposely choose white partners to dilute their native features. So that they can closer to closer to looking white ever subsequent generation.

i am currently seeing an indonesian girl.

are you telling me she is just seeing me to dilute her asian features?

Life / Price of beer in Poland [90]

Australian beer is like making love in a canoe... It's f*cking close to water.

what australian beer have you had?

i hate to think what you think of asian/mexican beer

There are quite a few boutique bottle shops and Flinders Portfolio in the city gets in most beers. But it is not true to say that the we do not have imported beers, it would be more accurate to say that some of the major imports are brewed here, but that is different. There are plenty of places that have Australian brewed "imports", but there are a lot of truly imported beers as well. Beer such as Zywiec is available here, but to my knowledge there is no one that brews it here.

there is a place near me that sells imported heineken/grolsch for around $40 for 24 330ml bottles. but id prefer to buy zywiec at $50 for 20 bottles at 500ml.

I'd vote for Boag's as a top beer. Only the lager is available here but it's excellent, although very eye watering at 12.90zl for 330ml (500ml of Krolewskie is 2.60zl).

which boags? the draught, lager, bitter?

Life / Price of beer in Poland [90]

I must admit though I am pretty unpatriotic, if I want a beer here, I will usually go an import now days.

import??

but these "imported" beers are brewed in australia and taste nothing like they do overseas. unless you're lucky enough to track down a shop that sells actual *import* beer.

i know safeway in preston has import grolsch and heineken, but not too many other i know of.

Unless things have changes then Fosters is not re-branded "Crownies". I used to work for CUB who make these these beers, though it was a long time ago. Aussie beer is not great to be honest. There are a couple of okay beers, but overall it is not great. I am not a fan of Boag's and to be honest one of the better mainstream beers here is just Carlton Draught. When you taste it you realise it is a pretty average beer.

the story that i heard was that crown lager is named as it was taken from the top of the barrell and they branded the remaining as fosters. dont know if it is fact or what.

which boags? there are many - strongarm bitter, the lager, the draught, etc.

i really like the strong arm bitter but am so-so on the rest.

if i had a choice i would drink coopers green any day of the week.

Australia / Can Polish Citizens work / travel in Australia? [9]

yeah, you would want to be earning $20 an hour minimum.

and im not sure australia has a working holiday agreement with poland. or has that changed due to eu membership?

you're best either going to the polish government website or call the department and they should provide you with visa information.

no, only zwiecw and brok.

polish beers arent that popular in australia.

but i nowadays would prefer to support the homeland buying the above over aussie beers, especially when they are 500ml @ 5.7%.

So, it isn't only the bogans that drink Boags? ;)

hahahahahaha....bogans.

no, boags is a more refined beer from the apple isle (tasmania).

the first export to the mainland was james boags, a more lager oriented beer.

now they have delved into the ordinary market with boags draught.

google/you tube it, they may have some of their advertising around somewhere.

fosters as you scots would say is pants.

would you believe no one buys fosters in australia...my canadian mate bought a pint in an aussie bar in edinburgh and drank half of it and left it. not even i could bring myself to drink the "man down".

Wow, beer is expensive down under!

yeah, when i was in scotland between 2000 and 2002 i was paying 2.50 pound for a pint of stella which when converted was around $7AUD.

but you gotta do the conversion, at the moment $1US = $0.66AUD. so prices are pretty comparable.

we can get 24 stubbies (375ml) for around $40AUD which works to about $24US.

Flavoured water is fine once in a while. I've heard that the microbrewers there are going from strength to strength.

You must admit, for the average Aussie, VB is better than Castlemaine XXXX and Fosters.

i prefer coopers pale ale myself but dont mind the odd vb/carlton draught for a changeup.

xxxx is pants....and not sure if you're familiar with crown lager, but fosters is just that rebranded for overseas.

$1.60 is really cheap. Over here you can pay anywhere from $2.50 to $5 or more for a pint and up from there for imports at a swanky place. I once paid $8 for a pint!
It’s all the damn taxes that drive up the cost.

is this in the us?

in australia we would pay $8 for a pint of local stuff and rising to $11-12 for the boutique asian/european beers.

but we also have the glorious idea of jugs, just over a litre at around $13.

vb is your stock standard lowest rung beer, along with carlton draught. there are plenty of microbrewers as well that are getting into ales and pale ales.

yeah, the asian brews in oz are usually $3-$5 per beer more than a local and not close in taste. i have tried a few and i always come away thinking i have had a flavoured water.

Many Asian beers are better too. Tsingtao, Kingfisher, Singha, Chang and Kirin Ichiban are all tastier.

asian beers are bland and watery, much like corona's.

that said, im sure there arent too many outside of australia that would be fond of the local aussie beers.

dont mind the zywiec and recently bought brok for a change.
