On the second thought, you'd be better off handwriting so you can use the lines or dots when needed. There are not too many of them in this address.

History / Jews...and their Polish experience [520]

You and Southern

There is a post which said adilski and southern are the same person (many other names listed too). That's why there are no two people here The Kruk - just one zealot.

History / Jews...and their Polish experience [520]

They thought the jewish bankers stole what the hard working german workers produced.

So, why doesn't Germany or Poland start educating their kids to be lawyers, doctors bankers? You ought to start from yourself instead of blaming others for their education.

History / Jews...and their Polish experience [520]

Yep.I came across Poles in Chicago with this types of views (Maslana, joepilsudski). Very depressing. Luckily, they are not the majority.

UK, Ireland / Polish Sperm donors needed in London [19]

What does language have to do with sperm donation!

I'm sure there is a form with some fine print to sign...it's not all about a magazine with pictures to help in the bathroom... :)

Wow. I'd never thought, there could be a shortage of donors.

News / Tinky Winky from tellytubbies outed in Poland [145]

polishcanuck - right on the button. All the government does is fighting instead to provide opportunities for its citizens. Instead, so many of the young people are slaving abroad.

What are they thinking!!! (the idiotic government that is). The communists drove me out of Poland 27 years ago, but it's not much better now.

News / Poland- Visa Waiver Program [55]

USA is far from looking like Africa or Mexico now, but if you believe our drive by media you'd think that we are. You can see it somewhat in large cities, but it's always been like this. Yes, Latin people still have lots of kids and with education being expensive lots of the second Latin population will do what their parents did. It is different for Polish or any other European immigrants, because only the first generation (and not all of them mind you) work menial jobs. Their kids work side by side with Americans.

News / American wanting to know about views from Poland [37]

People in small towns are not exposed to any foreign accents on daily bases. They can spot it immediately, but being not exposed they don't know what it is. The same happened to me in South Carolina last year. However, saying that I'm originally from Poland creates a frown and some confusion, they don't know where it is... Some younger ones do, but the older folks do not.

I think the US would benefit from exposing people to the world more via radio or TV, besides a few ethnic stations. There is way too little of it.

I remember being a kid, let's say 7, 8, 9...changing radio stations in Poland and picking up foreign stations and playing guessing games with my siblings or girlfriends what was the language. Of course, the neighboring languages were easy to pick up, but then we went to Albanian...or greek, or turkish...whatever.

Americans who travel abroad are a very different breed of people. They are very easy to talk to. The ones who travel 50 miles from home are totally helpless... :)

I think that it changes for the better thanks for the internet being used by all young people and kids.

USA, Canada / Good Polish/American Restaurants in Chicago area [90]

Walterek, a great input on the restaurants and very much true. I work in a burb neighboring with Naperville. Many people from the office go to Bobak's for lunch and they always loved it. A lot of food for a few dollars. They are sadden by the changes. I never went there. I prefer small delis, the big one lose on quality.

Enjoy your polish restaurant hopping.

Life / WHY IS POLAND SO DIRTY ???? [44]

I often see park District employees (I think, that's who they are) walking in the Forest Preserve picking up trash. There are lots of garbage cans everywhere, but some piggies prefer to throw it on the ground instead of walking extra 100 yards to a garbage can. Also, I see people picking trash on the sides of expressways and all other roads. Generally, I find the cities clean. Especially downtown. Also, depends in what neighborhood. Suburbs are spotless and i love it.

Patrycja is right. Schools are taking the kids for clean out your neighborhood days. You need to start from children, not only cleaning but manners as well.(spitting)

Life / Why is the average summer temp. in Poland always recorded so low ? [8]

Yes, the summers are pretty hot in the last decade or so in Poland. My family says so. And, they have no air-conditioning in homes or cars. It is still too expensive to have one. I understand that some official building are air conditioned.

News / Polish/German/Russian relations [304]

I'm about to leave for a Memorial Day back yard BBQ. I will make sure that the bratwurst and polish sausage I'm taking with me are put next to each other on the grill so they can get bbq'd together - united at last :)

In the mean time, Matyjasz, TheKruk and other debaters, there is a polish proverb about people like BBoy "tak sie z nim nagadasz jak ze smarkatym najesz". Loosely translated "you can have a meaningful conversation with him like you can have a satisfying meal with a distraught child"...

News / Polish/German/Russian relations [304]

It's a waste of time to debate with BBoy. Two words for you - "Crystal Night". Anybody can Google for more info. Some polish actions against the Jews were not actions, but reactions started in your country. Yes, I heard of Kielce. I was born a stone throw away from the city and I am the the US because my parents helped to save life of a Jew. To express his gratitude year later, he invited and sponsored my older sister, as my parents are no longer alive. I arrived 5 years after her.

"During Crystal Night over 7,500 Jewish shops were destroyed and 400 synagogues were burnt down. Ninety-one Jews were killed and an estimated 20,000 were sent to concentration camps. Up until this time these camps had been mainly for political prisoners. The only people who were punished for the crimes committed on Crystal Night were members of the Sturm Abteilung (SA) who had raped Jewish women (they had broken the Nuremberg Laws on sexual intercourse between Aryans and Jews)".

So there. Not another key stroke shall be wasted on you trollish behavior.

News / Polish/German/Russian relations [304]

what sick mind could dash a babies skull against a wall and feel pride at a good deed done.

That's what I saw in a documentary World War II when I was only 9 or 10, which gave me nightmares. I mentioned it in another thread.

Bratwurst Boy, was your grandpa or your parents a part to this? You should be ashamed to admit you are "this kind of German". It's not your fault that you are German, but your way of thinking is pretty sad and not worthy of a German national.

I have a good German friend. She is ashamed of Germany's past.

(P.S. Anybody can find, copy and paste stupid jokes off the INTERNET.)

Love / HELP! SEXY POLISH FEMALE STUDENT ISSUES [57]

My advise: just imagine a big "KEEP OUT" or "PRIVATE PROPERTY" sign all over her. Better yet, have another shot of whatever you're drinking and see the signs double.

History / Polish movies about Poland's role during WWII [20]

I went to see the movie with my American friend. He later commented, he saw more of a real war depicted in just the first 1/2 hr of the movie than all other movies combined, which are just full of red paint and special effects...

Yes, the movie is not a documentary, but that's what my parents and their siblings lived through. There are plenty of documentaries to see. I saw a couple when I was maybe 10 years old. It gave me nightmares. I also felt "happy" because I was "too big already for the Germans to pick me up by my feet and smash my head on the wall" - should there be another war...

Life / Losing the homeland identity of Polish people living abroad [10]

Unfortunately, whining, complaining and being very critical of everything is a characteristic of many polish people. I'd be happy to put some on the plain and ship back to Poland. Most are pretty established thanks to being in this country and still are negative....I run like hell from them... I can't stand it.

We all have choices and our well being is up us. Life is as easy and beautiful as you make it for yourself.

Food / The best potato pancakes? [30]

You can also add chunks of fried bacon to your prepared potato pancake mixture and bake it in the oven. Don't make it too thick or it will not get crispy. Cut it in squares and serve with cold milk. Yum mm.

UK, Ireland / Which Polish products have you seen in UK? [6]

Next time you are in the Polish Deli ask for "Jagody deserowe" (dessert blueberries). They come in a small jar. It could be "Abra" or "Lowicz" brand. Then, get yourself some blueberry ice cream or just plain vanilla, put some of jagody deserowe on top and...mmm...an instant heaven in your mouth!

USA, Canada / My wife's US permenant residence card interview [15]

regionpolski as a husband is the sponsor :)

rp, thanks for the update. I heard some stories about marriages for a green card only and the immigration officers really drill down with questions - both spouses separately. Well, maybe it happens only when the officer suspects the marriage to be a "business" marriage.

Since your case is the real thing and well supported the interview was a breeze.

UK, Ireland / Brit Youths Protest Anti-Gay Poland [114]

Gay women either hide better their orientation or I just did not come across a real one...Actually, I worked in the past with one suspected to be lesbian. I was told that. I'd never suspected her.

It is very easy to pick up the gay man vibes.
