News / Polish engineer beheaded in Pakistan. [347]

not only for their own selfish gains but for a better world

are you suggesting he was there for altruistic reasons or financial? I'd have bet on financial myself, but hey there are a ton of Poles in the uk for financial reasons too, i don't think beheading is the answer, or at least i really really hope it isn't.

i think this thread is missing more "we" vs "you" or "they" along with rounds of congratulating others from the same country or culture about how superior we are as opposed to "them." Then to be topped off with claiming responsibility for all positives to come out of our respective cultures, not acknowledge the positives to come out of other cultures and then judge everyone from another culture based on the very worst examples we have been shown via popular news sources.

News / Poland..wake up to a multicultural world [1059]

true but comments like yours better serve challenging the op than disparaging comments about poles and poland do.

However, as long as they can accept that multiculturalism may land on their doorstep, then that's fine.

why should they have to accept it? why is that fine? whether the indigenous population of a place accepts or rejects these notions is their choice and not ours to stamp with approval.

News / Poland..wake up to a multicultural world [1059]

and despite your 4 whole months in england you know nothing about the assimilation of immigrants into the uk.

Well, with all due respect, unless you have experienced being an immigrant in the uk his experiences as an immigrant there probably outweigh yours.

You are however correct, no polish person has anything in common with you, luckily.

for this, of course, i am enternally grateful

I don't get it BubbaWoo, assuming you're not being self-depricating, why would it be ok for you to slag off Polish traits but you come down on this guy for his distaste for 3rd world multiculturalism?

I admit that i'd get a little annoyed if someone spent a measly 4 months where I'm from and then started going off about what's wrong with the place but isn't that what's going on here with foreigners coming in to Poland and suddenly trying to tell Poles to be more "multicultural?"

I think that is the sentiment here and I think that's a load of b.s. If you want the multicultural experience then go back home to multi-cultural land where everyone holds hands and sings songs and enjoy your curries (to die for I admit). But If Poles decide they want to keep 3rd world immigrants or immigrants from overcrowded crap-holes out of Poland then so be it.

It seems hypocritical, ok it is hypocritical for Poles to emmigrate but not accept immigrants but it's not the fault of Poles who elect to stay within their country that other nations accept immigrants- if Stanisław Polak has been living his life in his town and doesn't want to deal with immigrants then his opinion whether we think it informed or not.

Stupid Talibans,

c'mon that's a pretty fair statement (i think)

now all Poles will hate Pakistani in Poland.

I think he's making a guess as to how the rank and file Pole will react (or has reacted).

Genealogy / Grandfather's village? (Katowice?) [10]

maybe the spellling was altered and the "H" should be a "ch" This might not solve the riddle but it may lead to a path.

History / germany prepares for invasion of Poland [43]

but I never knew about the above
phony invasion of Germany by germans to start the war!

how could you not? I thought this was on a standard knowledge test that all Poles had to pass.
Hmm then you probably have never heard about the Gulf of Tonkin, Operation Ajax, Lavon Affair, and Operation Northwoods- you got lots of reading to do.

UK, Ireland / Polish people in an english army [85]

you got to wonder about someone's motives for wanting to join another country's army. It obviously isn't a sense of loyalty or duty. It's sounds like it's more about what he can get out of the deal.

Fair enough but let's call a spade a spade here, if he joins there's a reeeeeeeally high chance that he ain't gonna stick with you once he's joined kiddo, so why worry about what he's gonna do with his life cause you won't be in it.

I know that's harsh but try to look at the situation objectively- he obviously hasn't planned you to be part of his life. If you're young then it's doubtful you'd enjoy life as a British Army Wife, you've got the signals you need. Even a monkey knows when it's time to change branches, find that other tree limb and then climb away.

News / Poland..wake up to a multicultural world [1059]

coming from a multicultural country, i have to say it is very very over rated. There are so many things wrong with pushing that agenda that i have no idea where to start. Poland doesn't need boatloads of somalis, rwandans chinese or indonesians. It's time people within a country focus on their countrymen and women first before undergoing the multiculturalism experiment.

i felt so sorry for him i gave him 200 PLN.

you're a saint, thanks for telling us all how generous you were.

UK, Ireland / Here comes the Anti-Immigration marches.... [114]

police had to stop hundreds of angry Brits from driving to Immingham to protest at that power station.

that's the part i don't like. Who or what is the police of a country to decide when people can protest and where?

UK, Ireland / Life in the UK for some Poles (sad article) [124]

I guarantee that if you could hear the babies scream while they are being "aborted" (like they are some kind of computer program) then all abortions would stop.

you can guarantee jack sh!t based off a supposition.
Critical thinking, enjoy it.

edit*yeah yeah, i know that's from page 1 but I couldn't resits, sue me*

USA, Canada / Why aren't Polish people immigrating to Canada instead of the UK? [148]

It seems that Winnipeg (I was passing through and met up with an old friend) residents (well the ones i spoke with) are a bit annoyed at the number of eastern european immigrants of late- their sentiments, not mine. It seems, again their sentiments, not mine, that they bring more problems than they contribute. I don't know if it's a Polish thing or a Ukranian thing, to the average Canuck, there really isn't a difference. Anyway why the hell anyone would immigrate to winnipeg is a mystery to me.

News / Poland's Future Includes Fewer Poles, More Foreigners [324]

Yoshi really immigrated the truth on to this topic and ended the whole debate at post #313.
Shame on you guys for not recognizing the greatness of that post.

Anyone who has even the slightest inclination to post on this topic really ought to read that post and then ask themselves if they can add any substance to his points or counter his points- I bet we can't.

Study / Looking for English Language schools in Katowice [48]

why the heck would you recommend a place you and your friend quit?

Honestly man, school management in the kato area have their collective head up their collective arse. it might be easier to ask which schools to avoid. I know, bubbling with optimism, i am.

if i were you i wouldn't do it. I don't know anything about you or your situation but i don't think it's a decision you'd look back on as a good one- if you do move then i sincerely hope i'm wrong
