Life / How much do you HATE POLISH PEOPLE and POLAND [1260]

You're missing the point:

1. So the fella strayed... it happened with Magda in Krakow - but it could so easily have been with Donna in accounts.

2. So Magda from Krakow realised that she was onto a meal ticket... fair play to her.

Life / How much do you HATE POLISH PEOPLE and POLAND [1260]

I'm trying to remember the name of the 79 year-old granny who married a 23 year-old Tunisian barman.... the tale was serialised in Take a Break a year or two ago... you just knew from the beginning that it was going to end in tears and a visa scam.

Well, easy to say, but as I am also a friend of the wife involved in all this.

Please don't take this the wrong way, but if my marriage was in trouble, the last thing that I would want would be one of my friends becoming bitter and twisted about the situation on a forum.

Don't be so judgemental, and let your friends sort out their problems between themselves.

I'm sorry, but you dont hear of, for example, African women on the point of famine or worse, trying to marry themselves off to the first gullible bloke that comes along to save themselves and their families,

Come on, it happens across the world: See my earlier post about Tunisian toy-boys. I've also met many a misguided old fool who has fallen for a Thai girl and brought her back to the UK "love you long time, sucky sucky cock" LOL!!

Relationships are supposed to be based on more than the availability of a passport and greed.

I agree - however some people are happy to be exploited (in the case that you describe above, I mean bopth the chap and the Polish girl).

Prostitution for a passport i call it.

Disagree - rightly or wrongly, the Polish girl thought that she was doing the best thing for son by providing what she considered to be a better life. It's a kind of survival instinct. I know a girl who came to the UK as a mail order bride, but she quickly ditched her hubby and now has a rather successful career in financial services.

There must have been cracks in the chap's relationship with his wife for him to stray.

polish women= whoring for money!!!!!

A bit harsh. The chap in question was thinking "with his other head" and the Polish girl was being resourceful.... happens all the time - look at all of those grannies that fall for Tunisian toy-boys that feature in Take a Break etc.

Real Estate / Crazy House crazy times Sopot [9]

Re the seasonal thing... what are the options for off-season? Developing some new markets such as conferences or trade fairs etc in the Winter months? Sports events, dental patients from outside of Poland?

Why did you decide to invest in those properties in the first place?

Love / Is it possible to be friends with girls in Poland? [59]

My intention starting this was I would like to date a "random" girl, without other intention than beeing friends

Now I'm even more confused... you mean that you just want to go for a beer and hang out with a random girl? No way... that wouldn't happen anywhere....

However if you had something in common, then yes - I go out for a drink or even dinner with my male friends, and neither they nor I (nor my husband LOL!!) would expect me to sleep with them.

Plotin... I'm not sure that I get where you're going with this.

Admittedly I'm not Polish, however I have lots of male friends... probably more guys than girls in fact. And they are just friends.

You need to have some kind of background in common - my friends are typically former colleagues, neighbours, mates from the gym etc. I don't think that you can ask random girls to be your friend LOL!!

UK, Ireland / Phone Card By Text Message To Call Poland From UK For 1p [5]

Have you got a website or something?... sounds a bit dodgy, and I've heard of cases where the call rate changes from 1p / minto 50p / min without warning.

Is this 1p / min to a mobile or a land line?

USA, Canada / Polish ladies beauty secrets from the USA [30]

Canada.

Sorry!!

Poland probably has better equipment but I doubt that there are enough surgeons with experience and expertise in this arena.

Dentistry is the main reason for people travelling to Poland from the UK - I had veneers done last time I was in Warsaw and am more than happy with them, but I've read that that the number of cosmetic surgery patients travelling to Poland is on the increase.

UK, Ireland / Poles in UK turn to fast food [29]

The home of London's original bagel shop (the good one, not the dodgy one a few doors down). Open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. It does get busy at times, and once or twice, their bellowing at the queue made me wonder whether the splace is run by shepherdic jews. It is an example of good fast food, especially the bagels with cream cheese and salmon.

Noooo.... don't go there... I was queuing up for my bagels bright and early one morning, when I spotted a guy in the kitchen bringing out a big tray of bagels from the oven, he stopped, stuffed his hand down his trackie bottons, gave his backside a good old scratch, then carried on pulling the bagels out of the oven.... yuk!

USA, Canada / Polish ladies beauty secrets from the USA [30]

I doubt that lol! If I ever elected to do plastic surgery (and I wouldn't because it makes people look creepy) I definitely wouldn't get it done in Poland. I don't think that there's a big market for it, so I doubt most of the surgeons would be all that experienced. Where would the Polkas get the money to do it?

Are you based in the US? I'm guessing that you're not aware of the "medical tourism" bandwagon... lots of British patients are travelling to Poland for elective procedures like cosmetic surgery.

UK, Ireland / Poles in UK turn to fast food [29]

Interesting thread... I live very near Brick Lane, so I guess the real test would be to see Polish menus in the curry houses... Popadoms with mango chutney, Lamb Biriyani with pilau rice and a portion of saag paneer on the side and a pint of cobra, anyone?

Life / Warsaw - most boring capital in Europe, after Brussels - comments? [78]

"Surprisingly Warsaw residents didn't themselves think their city was so bad to live in, mostly it was foreign visitors." And this is exactly why I like Warsaw very much (more than Kraków where I lived for five months). Kraków is very nice, especially for tourist and students. But to me (in my thirties and not merely in Poland for a long weekend) Warsaw is a very pleasant place. OK, maybe not that beautiful esthetically- but fun, and easier to integrate than in Kraków, frankly speaking. And much more international (if you omit Erasmus students and stack parties ;), which is also a positive virtue in my opinion.

I think that I can see where you're coming from: Similarly, I've been to places like Venice and Prague, where you feel like you are walking around with "tourist # 4646353252" stamped on your forehead. Give me a night out in Warsaw any day...

Food / Chocolate flavored vodka [11]

Most of the flavoured vodkas are made using chemicals, its much more fun to make your own.

Ever tried peardrops left to steep in vodka? yum yum
