UK, Ireland / My Views Of Poles Working in the UK [169]

Incubus is right, much of the fault lies at the feet of the employers. They do the proficiency tests (or don't maybe) and decide on the suitability of the candidate.

When I said Britain, I meant the govt tornado. We all know that. If u doubt my sincerity, go and check what I have written elsewhere. Hitler caused all sorts of bad views of the Germans, Bush of the Americans and so it goes. Separating the actions and views of the govt, or even individuals, from the people is of CRITICAL importance. U probably won't find a greater acknowledger of this fact than me. Go and ask other PF members my take on this.

I think if people really thought about it, they'd agree with much of what u say tornado. To hell with automatically being defensive, speak the truth. Customer service personnel should be able to speak English to the right level, who could disagree?

Poles, unlike the Dutch and Belgians (e.g's), rigidly cling to their own language for the most part. Even tho they can speak English, they choose to gas away in Polish, as is their right but it can be misinterpreted. They are not as comfortable as other EU nations like the abovementioned in speaking English.

There are many complainers, a fact that the Poles know only too well. It's trendy in a way for them to be so but I find it shallow. I know many people here who are not that way and don't play that pathetic game. I'm lucky, I know many cool folks who are more than happy with their lot but it's hard to deny that they are a nation of complainers. That's saying sth as the Brits are too but I find the Poles to be even worse.

Britain created a minor jobs market, sth I saw clearly back in 2003. It was the perfect time for the Poles to come (2004) as many jobs suited their skills. Can't fault them for that. Boo hoo to the lazy Brits.

About overflow, everyone needs to pay their way in life. Are the Poles supposed to be considerate and say, 'Ah, no thanks, you already have enough Poles here so I'll look elsewhere'? Come off it!! BRITAIN allowed this, BRITAIN!! They are merely using their options. Yeah, I'd like to see many of them leave too and contribute to their own national economy but be realistic.

I can tell u that many Poles see the UK as some kind of haven. I give u Desiderata commonsense.

'God give me the courage to accept the things I cannot change'. U don't have the power to orchestrate wholesale changes so why bother? Yes, I understand that if everyone took that approach then the status quo would always be maintained but what do u propose to do about it, may I ask?

Life / Dungeons & Dragons - big in Poland?/Who here plays it [45]

It's highly regulated and sophisticated. It appeals to ur creative side but attempting to pull chicks based on it is just lunacy. U can roll a 20 if u want but u will still be tugging ur wire.

News / Polish Japanese relations (history and present time) [90]

Not all Scots are so emotional about history at all. Contrary to what many people think, there are still many poor people in Scotland. Such people think more about how to put clothes on backs and feed hungry mouths. These people don't have the luxury of dwelling on history.

I can't comment on the position on the UK, that's for guys ur side. It does get me how Poles are so proud of their country but don't come back. I'm proud of Scotland, but I'm here for my missus.
