UK, Ireland / Survey of Poles in the UK [24]

There's always the possibility of distorting reality, an old ploy

UK, Ireland / Survey of Poles in the UK [24]

Good thread OsioĊ‚, 92% say they haven't claimed from the state. Loads of Brits claim from the state so 'noimmigration' is well wide of the mark if these figures are to be believed.

Language / Things Polish people who speak English language say [180]

The difference between the present simple and the present progressive/continuous also causes problems, e.g I'm coming from the west of Poland, rather than I come from the west of Poland.

Native speakers are complicating things by saying stuff like, 'I'm lovin it', although it has some logic

News / Follow the leaders invest in Poland [8]

U just have to keep throwing them up and encouraging discussion. Poland is a golden bet for American firms. In Scotland, we are lucky to have a combination of natural resource-based industries and we attract a lot of investment. I hope Poland can do likewise.

Life / Nasty polish guys in Bialystok [36]

It's hard to say. Some people are nasty to whoever comes their way. Just brush it off and try to forget about such fools

I think these are tangible signs of classic ruggedness amongst the Poles to not be accepted as a 'backward' country. There is vast potential here and investors are realising this. The big problem lies in the perception of Poles. The skills are undoubtedly here in abundance but the recognition of this is the key. The tide is turning :)

Life / How easy is it to get into trouble with the Police in Poland? [26]

I'm not entirely sceptical either. I think that they are very disciplined and are often on patrol. There are also different levels of police which I like. The straz mieska streel patrols are a very good idea.

It's just a hunch Matyjasz but I'd hazard a guess that the police may turn a blind eye unless he was getting badly beaten.

Many Poles don't like Germans unfortunately and Asians get insulted because of their eyes. I hate such attitudes

Language / Any sweet Polish phrases [255]

It has to be constantly reinforced tho, not just the occasional comment from time to time. I have to say it at least once every day, if not ten times :)

Life / How easy is it to get into trouble with the Police in Poland? [26]

Well, u made one stupid comment but u r a smarty guy so u should feel complimented. There was a neighbourhood dispute and I had to liaise with the police and they didn't even want to know. They do a great job at footie grounds tho!!
