Travel / Spring Break '08 in Poland [23]

Don't act like one. Don't brag about anything, and be polite. Don't act like you know everything and rule the world. Those are the most things poles don't like in americans, at least i do.

Life / Is POKER popular sport in Poland? [5]

Not really a national thing to do, but there are people among who it is very popular. gryonline.wp.pl is one of places in the net where you can play online in poland.

Genealogy / Belarusian or Polish? [4]

Well... If we look on this by genes, you get more from you mother then father even as a male, so if you don't know if you feel more like a pole or belrussian, maybe this will help you clear things up :P

Genealogy / Belarusian or Polish? [4]

Belarussian is more likely (i'm just guessing)

You're guessing right. But on the other hand... How deep into your family "roots" you want to dig? Now it is the capitol of Belarus, but in the past it was polish, but also russian and lithuanian (far in the past)

Life / Cigarette Smoking in Poland [146]

maybe I got trampled by a wildboar? Or squashed by a stray meteorite...

That is the whole point in what im trying to say. If you smoke maybe you have more chance of getting a lung cancer etc... But does it mean you will get it? By all means, no, it doesn't.

If i assume you believe in god, and god has a 99.99999999 to infinity chance of not existing according to the way you think i should say you have to stop believing in him, cause it's just nonsense.

As i said before, stats are nothing more then stats. It can help you know this or that, but it wont help you get the whole picture.

Life / Cigarette Smoking in Poland [146]

I didn't said smoking won't kill anyone, didn't said it's not causing impotence or lung cancer. I just said that if you just look at the charts you wont really get the picture. Stats are just stats. If some chart would say you have a 70% chance of getting hit by a car would you stay in home for the rest of your life just because you read some numbers? Honestly, i don't think so.

Life / Cigarette Smoking in Poland [146]

Im just saying that, life is killing us anyways, so who really cares about statistics. I known people that died from lung cancer at the age of 30, didn't smoked a single cigarette whole life. And i know many who have now 70-90 years, smoking like hell and still being more healthy then most non-smokers at the age of 30. Statistics are just statistics. Acording to statistics 1 in 3 people on our planet are asians, why? Cause statistics tells that, do you belive in that? Yes you do. Its a fact. But if you see 3 guys walking down the street do you think one of them is asian? Don't think so. One of them could be, but does he have to be, just cause some chart says so? No.

Same to smoking, yeah it's not healthy, but you'll die anyway. If you dont smoke do you have less chance to get a lung cancer? Maybe. But "maybe" is just "maybe".

It's easy to belive in numbers, but life is more complicated then few numbers in a chart.

Genealogy / Anybody Know what Knewegvizet could be? [7]

"Knewegvizet"... This does not look polish, does not sound polish either. But i'm not sure, in Poland there are many places that even poles would think, after hearing the name, are not in poland. Sounds a little german, so if it's in poland i would look in south west, were the german influence was very high.

Then again if it's just a mistake made by a clerk that didn't know how to write it, it can be anything and anywhere.

Life / Cigarette Smoking in Poland [146]

PS....on a softer note...did you know that smoking causes impotency in men? That, as your arteries clog, and blood flow is reduced...you just can't keep the blood flowing where it's needed any more....as I said...on a SOFTER note!!

Yeah, tell that to my uncles friend who has 68 years now, smoking since he was 16, and now has 11 children. Impotency? ********...

Food / Polish National Dish [54]

What is interesting polish national dishes (PND) that most of poles think about when asked this question, are not really originally from poland. So for the answer you must look in the north east of our country. I personally don't know the answer, but i know that in the present you can call PND many things: bigos, pierogi are at the top of the list. But there are much, much more, depends on in which region of Poland you will ask.

Life / Cigarette Smoking in Poland [146]

Smoking...
F..k everyone who says it kills you. Nobody will live forever, so who cares.
I've got so much memories, only good memories with smoking cigarettes. A smoke right after the first time having sex, call me anyhow you want, but this is the felling that no man will ever forget. I've met so many people in clubs, most of them are my good friends till now. Few beers, couple hours talking about everything, many 20's sent to heaven playing pool. Many times, when i was writing my poems, i've just turned on music, light the cigarette and needed nothing more to get it done.

If that will kill me, i will thank with all my heart (even if everything inside me will be black mass of cancer) for every single minute of that.

Travel / How do i stay in poland longer than 90 days if im already in poland [37]

Don't think so that they will block you. Poland is much more open for US then US for poles. And, you know, you can always get a visa to Germany, and just drive through the polish borded, nobody will stop you now, inside EU the borders are lifted.

Language / So many words for "Kisses" in Polish? [13]

True... And it's much more interesting when you can use 10 words to describe something instead of just one.
