News / BOOZE & CAR TAX TO AID POLAND'S NEEDY? [23]

What a haphazard justification for ineptitude! What better way to mask alcoholism than to legitimise it? How about the cock tax?

Law / POLISH BUSINESS IN UK OR UK BUSINESS IN POLAND??? [5]

The bureaucracy is terrible here. No organisation is good organisation. They love to chase you up after nonsense. They look for a chance to pull you to the local admin centre and harrass you. People giving themselves jobs.

Life / Poles are very polite nation! [47]

Regarding the hospitality industry? One of the biggest flaws of the Poles, and many other nations, is that they don't sell their trump cards well enough. Poland's hospitality industry could be a major boom industry with the right level of care and attention.

Go Jimbo!! Well, he was American so he was likely to say that.

He also had a Lament for his C*** so that might have said sth too ;)

I think Plywood made a good point above. The Poles tend to see the Western label as a positive one but that isn't the whole truth, far from it.

Sorry, I disagree with the thread title but I think more Poles would do themselves a favour here by promoting their hospitality industry. Many polite individuals there.

Genealogy / Do I Look Polish? (my grandfather was Polish) [60]

I wouldn't say you were Polish if I had to guess. However, you are not too dissimilar to one of my students so you could pass as such.

You look like a member of some academic community

Life / Poles are very polite nation! [47]

They have plenty bloody strength when they want to. They totter along slowly until they see a place and, woomph, they are in like a shot. Supergran, LOL

They tut away and say how badly the youth of today behave are raised. Go back along the family tree and we find out exactly who raised them.

Life / Poles are very polite nation! [47]

I don't have a strong accent and I wasn't speaking to anyone as I was alone. I don't exactly look Polish although some have thought so.

Life / Poles are very polite nation! [47]

I had some impolite grunting types this morning on the tram. I believe in giving up my seat to elderly passengers but there were several of them so I figured that I'd stay seated. They can't all sit down. They saw I was foreign and started grumbling away, cursing in Polish. Ignorant twats, assuming that I couldn't understand them. I made myself even more comfortable in my seat then.

There are similar types in Scotland but, generally, they will thank you for giving up your seat. Here, they expect you to so screw that. I paid my money, I was there first, I expect a seat. It is a contract after all.

Life / Poles are very polite nation! [47]

Jump the cue's? They play snooker or pool? LOL

I've heard many here admit that Poland is not a polite nation. From Poles themselves. Although I don't share in that view completely, I wouldn't describe Poland as having polite people in general. You meet good and bad everywhere. I've met many polite and cracking people here.

Life / Rudeness of polish people when they are drunk [43]

Well, it's actually the Scottish guy here who moonlights. He has a few jars and discreetly slips away. He's a great guy tho!!

I hear what you are saying Justy, but it's done in a special way. There is sth like a Borg mentality but nothing like on the scale of the Japanese. They were a world apart.

Life / Rudeness of polish people when they are drunk [43]

What I do find rude is when Poles talk amongst themselves like a clique. They can completely ignore you and make you feel unwelcome when you try and butt in.

I have experienced this but it's only a certain type. It is annoying but Poles are generally a great bunch after a couple of beers.

Thankfully, I don't see the above that often as they speak English of course (when I'm teaching) and thus can open up.

Life / Rudeness of polish people when they are drunk [43]

The People who know Poland apparently, LOL

Some don't need to be drunk to be rude though, in any country. My fiancee was working today and she told a guy not to take the last catalogue. New clients came along and she was taken up by them. What did the guy do? Sneekily removed it and hopped it, bellend.

News / POLES the BLACKS of EUROPE? [104]

Step up to the plate, Prince. This is a classic chance for you to prove that the Poles are not the blacks of Europe. Not that you need to prove a thing, mind you.

I, for one, would love to see some areas of strength.
