UK, Ireland / The best place to buy a house in the UK [120]

Brum exists in the west midlands, west midlands in the midlands. Straford upon Avon is in the midlands and so is Stoke. Different accents and people. Calling me a Brummie would be like calling you a scouser. :)

maybe thats just your extended family and their houses then? If you are from there, why are you slating the beautiful accent?

I'm not from Brum or even the West Midlands and neither are my family though I'm not sure why you would want to bring them into it.

UK, Ireland / Maddogs and Englishmen. [18]

I hope I don't therefore fall in to the category of no real ambition and no prospect of an increase in income!

But you are trying to pull foreign women? ;)

What do you think the stereotype is.

TEFL teacher who got qualified in order to pull foreign women. Probably middle class, no real ambition, no prospect of an increase in income in either the short or long term.

Am I close?

Not wishing to antagonise, but can you name one 'community' that is multicultural? I cant, and I've lived in cities throughout Britain all my life. Where there are 'communities' there is no 'community'.

I think the point made by AriseSt George was valid i.e. that ethnicity is a factor in social cohesion. Its not the only factor but it is a valid one. To criticise him for pointing this out and saying that he is misinformed when talking of a white idyll is as misinformed in imagining a multicultural idyll in which white people walk down the street 'high-fiving' rastafarians.

excuse me but neither Birmingham nor London are '*********'

I'm from the midlands and live in London. Brum is a dive full of ugly buildings, people and accents. London is the same but with nicer buildings and the added 'bonus' of tourists.

I think people here are basically arguing with AriseStGeorge just for the sake of it as they resent the 'tone' of his arguments rather than the content. Multicultural communities are almost always not nice areas to live. If someone can think off a pleasant one then feel free to name it.

'White flight' exists. This is not to say white=good everyone else= bad, it just means that the majority of nice areas are not really multicultural as multiculturalism doesnt create community cohesion it destroys it by creating divisions.

Stir things up? I merely described my community. Like it or not, it's the community I live in and it is highly suspicious of non whites. Non whites don't settle here. Alot of people that know Kirkham & Wesham will tell you it's not a suitable place for Asians or blacks to LIVE. Even Asians in Preston will tell you. Visit, yes ok but not to live.

It's a perfect community for a white person, but non-whites won't feel welcome. There have been a few blacks that moved here but moved out within months. They come and go.

Replace the word 'white' with 'asian' and you could be describing parts of Bradford, Oldham, Birmingham or Hounslow. I suspect some people here wouldnt get quite so upset by this.

Now Im going to call you a twat for that comment, since you seem to think that all people that come off council estates are scum.

Not all, but certainly a lot. Those of us that come from council estates get the f*ck out as soon as our income multiples allow.

UK, Ireland / Gang attack Polish man with knife [87]

Ask India, ask the colonies in Africa, ask the Native population in North America, and especially Canada, and I'm sure you would be given a different answer.

At least they would give their answers in English which shows our efforts werent entirely wasted.

Because it reflects my crazy opinion that bad things happen to and are done by all sorts of people. Its a wacky idea but I think reality is on my side.

UK, Ireland / My fellow brits here - are "traitors" by not dating English girls? [103]

My (Polish) Missus has said that sometimes when she gets introduced to Polish guys they give her a funny vibe as soon as they know her partner is English. I've noticed this once or twice too. I might have a bit of fun with them next time this happens, wind them up a bit.

UK, Ireland / National Holiday To Celebrate Britishness Could Be On It's Way [83]

'British' sounds old fashioned to me. It also allies us (the English) with people who seem to want to have nothing to do with us (the Celtic fringe). I think its best we go it alone, especially as we are in the EU.

Instead, the report suggested that treason charges should apply to Britons who go abroad to fight against our forces.

Better than giving them a council house and an interview in the Guardian like we do now I suppose.

The problem with all this is that the people who are most proud of their nationality are the ones who have least to be proud of as individuals. Those with the most enthusiasm will be the ones most ignorant about what it is they're actually celebrating.

UK, Ireland / The Poles are Coming documentary [38]

And as always, T.V. only shows you the type of guys and girls who don't want to do certain work. So these individuals who run those agencies and prefer cheap labour can justify their behaviour.

You have a point. It isnt only chavs that large scale immigration effects as it does effect the incomes and opportunities of people who already work i.e. pushing down wages, increasing competition. And it isnt the middle calss it effects but the traditional working class, the non-chavs.

History / Some names to the faces of brave Poles during WW2 German Invasion [24]

Never trust the barbari niemz . I fear that they will buy up land/property in Poland, and achieve by economics what they could not do by force of arms.

Theres a big difference being buying some apartments and planning the genocide of 10's of millions of people.

UK, Ireland / The Poles are Coming documentary [38]

An enlightening bit was also when the mayor(?) of Gdansk came over to England to try and convince the room full of Poles to come back to Poland as there would be jobs for them. Their reaction was a bit more negative than he was expecting I think. They saw straight through him when he couldnt give them any definites rather than generalities.

The big difference between living in England and going back to Poland for most of these guys was this key point. England definitely has jobs and a minimum salary, Poland, at the moment, can only offer maybes. The Poles were pragmatic about this and cynical about any promises made by a Polish politician.

When he was outside the Job Centre and British scrotes seem to think they are above a hard days work - FFS - one of the foreigners who are steeling jobs was earning £2k a month....slightly above minimum wage I would say...oh and apparently Poles work for 50p

It was also funny to think that these chavs were looking down on Polish farm workers however these farm workers had stepped above them in the general pecking order of British society. One of the Poles had two cars and its funny to think of him driving to work past the chav walking to the employment agency. Its plain to see whose children will be achieving more in 10-15 years.

News / I love Poland because... (in 10 words or less) [182]

Because unlike when we're in England when I go to Poland my wife has to do all the ordering of food and drinks when we go out. I can eat loads and get p1ssed and not even have to leave my seat. Its a little window into the female experience and I appreciate it.

History / WW2: Britain Declares War on Germany to Save Poland [290]

Sometimes this whole argument seems to highlight the differing mentalities of Poles and others, or at least Brits.
I think that Poles have a mentality of accepting 'glorious failure' as a permissable outcome to a conflict. Its in some ways admirable as it shows a strong moral code however Britain has always been a bit more 'flexible' in its morality when it comes to victory. Its like our football team- not pretty to watch, often second best, but can often scrape a win against the run of play.

UK, Ireland / Polish worker's excuse and a vacuum cleaner (UK) [79]

t's been ONE so far. And since you Britons claim there are millions and millions of us in the UK, then 1 of those millions is not that bad.

lol. I love the 'so far' bit.

If I see any of them doing any mess here, I won't waste the opportunity.

come on every week is always one or two nasty news about polish in uk .

If Polish people object to these stories maybe they should warn their compatriots not to make themselves newsworthy by making sweet love with household appliances in public conveniences.

Also if you feel newspapers are out of order publicising these stories why are you doing exactly the same?

This isnt a judgement just an observation.

I'm guessing that you live in the burbs....

I live in Central London, and know so many different people who have interracial relationships.

In fact, my sister is a barrister (blonde / pale skinned) and is married to a chap from Antugua. She so doesn't match the stereotype that you describe.

Nope. I was born and brought up on a inner city concil estate in the West Midlands. I now live in London also.

you are still generalising. those British trashy girls with a bunch of kids all by different men, dont only choose to be with black/indian/asian men. all they want is to steal the taxpayers money. they are not a good example of women dating non-white guys. they will date and mate with anyone.

You're right, I was generalising. But hey, this is an internet message board.
We can all claim we know exceptions to stereotypes but the fact is that we recognise the stereotype and the stereotype has validity despite us wishing it didnt exist.

what do British council estate mothers have to do with the issue of relationships between Poles and black people? i dont think carole looks anything like them.

I dont know what Carole looks like. Also I responding to Schultz who was making a general point.

That is exactly what you said. But don't let the facts get in your way.

Well it hasnt stopped you has it?

Please feel free to quote what I've said 'exactly'.
