UK, Ireland / Here comes the Anti-Immigration marches.... [114]

Break loose from the EU, England was doing fine on her own for centuries, now you take orders from Brussells..lol

Really this is like the same problem we have with illegal Mexicans, if you dont want your country overridden and your cities destroyed put in place a yearly quota of immigrants allowed into your country like we do.

We have laws for immigration and you really dont being part of the EU

USA, Canada / Jobs and apartment rentals in Chicago [12]

I was thinking just to go there, and drive on Addison, Belmont Diversey streets(polish neighborhood right???)

Yes, that whole area has alot of Polish especially Belmont,
The best way to find an apartment is to get the Nadig northwest side press.
There is a local Polish Newspaper also, sorry but these are not available online.

Here`s the best papers for job hunting

chicagotribune.com
dailyherald.com suburban paper, most likley your best bet for jobs.
chicagoreader.com this is a real good one for just the city.
chicago.metromix.com

Well this should keep you busy for awhile.......powodzenia:)

I new it had to be different, Gyros are Beef and lamb combo on pita
with tzataki (sp) sauce.

They might me made only here by the Chicago Greeks coz nobody has ever heard of them...its like a Italian Beef Sandwich , Philly cheesesteak???

USA, Canada / US auto bailout [49]

I would suspect you've never worked in a factory let alone on an auto assembly line. The workers are not lazy and work hard.

I`m in a union also,
Some UAW workers came to Chicago and worked with us at McCormick PL
when we were setting up the Auto show, most of them just stood around all day.

China is hardly a country to compare with when

I didnt metion anything about China??

Ask yourself this, can you afford to take home half of what you earn?

Its better than being unemployed, these workers get 90% of their pay even when theyre laid off for months at a time, ceo`s rake in millions a year.

The autos are over priced nobody wants to buy them anymore.
They dont deserve to be bailed out.

USA, Canada / US auto bailout [49]

i really don't think that GM will just close down. even though i do consider American automotive industry to be a complete crap, it is after all an iconic industry for America and it needs to stay afloat.

I think they will be bailed out, if they can present a good plan to Congress tommorrow.
Ford autos have become complete junk, I wouldnt buy one, thats for sure.

I have a 1998 Chevy Pickup with almost 300,000 miles on it, I suppose that I got lucky with that one?

Its cost something like $75.00 an hour per person on the payroll
the Japanese companies pay around $40.00

maybe these people should take a pay cut untill they can deliever a decent product.

GM wants 4 billion by the end of the month or they will fold
something like 33,000 people are going to loose thier jobs?

I wonder if I`ll still be able to get parts for my car , if need be?

Too cold to drive my motorcycle that for sure.

The ecomony is so screwed up, I wonder what will happen when Obama starts raising everybodys taxes, not a good time for this!

Walmart pays minimum wage, not $8.

No wonder why people are making such desperate decisions

its the governments fault, greed is killing America

A little hard ship could help the country

True, maybe weve become to complicit, time to get back to work and fire up the money making machine, we can do it, without another war..please!!

Having a screwed up government for the past decade really hurt us..
We will be back, we have too:)

Not only does it not pay well, I'd say it pays horribly. Who can afford to live at minimum wage?

I cant understand how anybody could live off the wages they pay
One must have two or three jobs at that rate.

I feel lucky, but my future is uncertain also??
I`m glad I worked hard the past 20 years, I might just give up the job and do some traveling, see the world while I have the chance?

Many of my friends have lost almost everything, its sad times indeed

America will bounce back , I have faith in the people not the government

Long Island Walmart? A guys life seemed meaningless when people wanted to save $3, jeez.

Walmart doesnt pay very well, I couldnt imagine waking up in the morning and having to deal with these insane shoppers, they rather kill you than smile at somebody.....

Ive been to NYC cant say I`m very fond of it...armpit of America
