Work / Interview at a Callan School [204]

True enough. We don't aim for RP at all. We just use what we have, plain and simple.

Their level of naivety knows no boundaries. It drives me nuts when they talk of THE British accent. WTF is THE British accent?

Forget England, let's just look at Scotland. I can think of many distinct accents. You can pinpoint where people are from. Needless to say, England is the same on a bigger scale.

I have actually told a student just to use her natural accent and stop imitating. It sounds frankly laughable when they put it on.

History / Roman Dmowski- Polish Adolf Hitler? [219]

Then I ask again. Show me the link where he said that. It shouldn't be too hard.

Watch a Scottish account on Youtube. He shows clearly how the buildings were detonated. Gordon Ross gave the presentation.

Geez, I've just seen one of the hijackers going past my window, what's he doing in Gliwice? They're everywhere you know ;)

Love / Chatting up Polish girls in the street. [60]

You are very SASsy today, Davie. I understand what you are trying to say SwedishPole.

I meant situations where they have to get out of their comfort zone. Some can do that in order to help or just make contact with others.

Some handle them better than others. Sometimes it's worth going through some discomfort to reach a position of comfort! God Only Knows I know this from stomach pains and other ailments.

Precisely. They are disgruntled old sods. Correction is the bane of my existence!

Well, when you go labelling people so viciously as you have done, you need proof. I don't need my legal education to tell you that.

I am yet to see ONE link, one piece of PROOF that he said that.

You know, labelling needs to stop. Based on what I see on 9/11, the official version is the conspiracy theory.

Multiple warnings were arrogantly ignored. Gauge the reaction of the people, they would rather have been told.

Have you seen Ahmedinejad, Randal? Just listen to him for once, rather than branding him. He's articulate and insightful.

What did Bush say 1.37 into the video I posted, Randal? Go on, tell me. (The above one)

Better still, tell me what that buffoon said at 0.35.

youtube.com/watch?v=yEkrB7RabvQ&feature=related, try this. This is from a REAL Iranian who can translate.

I like what he said about Iranian help for Israel in the past.

SUPERB. I couldn't agree more with what he said in this interview. I actually like this man, Ahmedinejad. I'd like to meet him through a translator as he is very perceptive and sees all the hateful activity of high-level people in the US. He's super smart.

Let me tell you something. I'm 99% certain that Ahmedinejad was paid to say that but that the Ayatollah represented the official line.

Look at the international response that it generated from the very source you cited. America wanted that, just to maintain the tension. Please look behind the scenes more often Randal.

Precisely BB, he has respect for Jews living there. I also know that he allows alcohol to be consumed in places of prohibition, provided the police don't see him (the Jew) doing it.

It just comes through education, Randal. You have clearly just picked up on media nonsense which was twisted. I knew you were gonna say it, it's so predictable. National media could frame anyone with some aplomb :(

Yawn.....absolute nonsense. Please post me ANY link where he said that. Go on Randal, show me the proof.

I'll happily show you some proof that he gets on with Jews and defends their rights.

Life / Price of beer in Poland [90]

Whatever happened to Lech Mocne? It's very underrated. I had it a couple of weeks back and it was as good as I remembered it.

Sir, I recommend the Dmowski thread. It was just such a laugh to see how seriously they took the method. Yeah, they were paying customers but they saw Callan as the Bible. Eyes/cotton wool, eyes/cotton wool.

I agree with that. Older people don't have the element of spontaneity and are likely to mark you down in surveys. However, I found many groups of Poles to be like one big tribe. The oldies rolled with what the young uns were doing. This was the exception to the rule though.

I'd pay 4 quid tops for 4 bottles of Becks. Over 3 quid each for a bottle is scandalous.

Duzy Żubr are 660ml's at 6.0%. I had 2 last night, enough for an old man like me ;) Probably equivalent to 3 pints of British lager.

Aha, the Hobart boys putting something together.

Have you tried Żubr beer in Poland, KS?

I've heard of Coopers but not James Boags. So, it isn't only the bogans that drink Boags? ;)

I always found it to be pretty nice. I don't believe in conditioning myself not to like something when I actually like it.

Pants, LOL. Or gash :)

Food / Menu suggestions for a Polish/Scottish night. [89]

There was a vodka/Irn-Bru concoction before. It was called WKD but I guess it was taken off the shelves a long time ago.

The Poles would like potato waffles. They have gofry.

PD, coleslaw is a real winner as a side-serving ingredient. The Poles will know it as it is marketed under the English name. The Poles love side salads, surówki. They have a pikanty version which isn't as good as the łagodny version. Spicy coleslaw just isn't as good as mild.
