News / Poland..wake up to a multicultural world [1059]

On the back of immigrants from ALL nations? So why shun them now? Convenience or what?

Luck and meddling got America out of the Wall Street Crash

WWII, for sure. America rescued the world here, I agree

The Marshall Plan, without a shadow of a doubt

The atom bomb? You've got to be kidding. The very same thing that killed many in Hiroshima and Nagasaki? Come off it. Why not let Iran have the same 'glory' then?

The 1st man on the moon. Well, I don't believe the conspiracy theories but some do.

I posted the wrong video. I told you that and I apologised. She was a wacko nutjob, I was just pointing out how daft people can be.

All I'm asking you to do is to put bones on the skeleton and define the glory days.

Anyone who disrespects the war dead should be beaten with a very large stick.

Perhaps all America needs is a restoration of faith and, somewhere down the line, a redefinition of values.

It is not third world nations that are causing the problem. Toxic elements who have said they don't like you are causing the problems. David Rockefeller being prima inter parus.

What is this 'height of glory' in your opinion, nunczka?

How do you expect America to be a united country? Why regress when you can make progress?

It looks like you are falling into a trap that took SA years to overcome. America is surely brighter than that.

Life / 800 thousand Polish women are victims of domestic abuse yearly [180]

It's very true in the context of Scotland, brethren, yes. How about in Poland? Any thoughts from the Poles? Invariably, custody goes to the mother and sporadic access goes to the father. I read a lot on the Scots law of divorce. It was enough to make a grown man cry, it was ;)

Law / Setting up a Chinese Language School in Poland - good business idea? [41]

Isn't it strange that a Polish forum should see every other language other than Polish? Chinese is a major language of the future. There's no way in God's earth that I could pronounce it tho.

My Taiwanese-American friend speaks it. I thought she was ill or in pain when I first heard it ;)

I didn't look at that truefacts website. I read up a bit on him, yes. To have a discussion, you have to know something so I checked up.

I read what he stood for and, as I said, it hasn't come about yet.

Food / Where to buy Cheddar in Warsaw? [57]

Spoken like a true connosieur, nice one. Cheese is sophisticated and should be treated as such.

Have you tried Cambozola? It's Gorgonzola meets Camembert. Tasty stuff.

There is real French brie in Tesco. It costs a bit more but you know where your money goes. You shouldn't scrimp on good cheese.

I thought as much ;) There's a great cheese section in Tesco but the shelf life of some of the cheeses isn't long. I fancy a stinky one, soft and gooey.

Ach Cardno, I could strangle you ;) ;) Scotland is pretty good for cheese. The local dairy is legendary!

He died in 1960. I don't pay too much attention to their deliberations. They will say what they will say.

There are folks who do that already, HB. They are first to obtain the various leakages and divulge the contents.

sjam, I'm willing to discuss specifics. He was a champion of an idea that, as of yet, hasn't really come to fruition. He was an ardent proponent of a federal states of Europe. So, a man had a vision, many have. When this didn't materialise, he resorted/contrived to form the Bilderberg Group in 1954. An underground and clandestine society whose sporadic meetings should have little or no bearing on policy formulation.

Well, 2 of my teachers won prestigious awards for their work. 1 is the author of the leading text along with Stephen Weatherill of Cambridge. The other is a leading academic in Britain. My Uni got a research rating of 5, the best. It's one of the best in Europe.

So, come again!?

They are not democratically elected. So enlighten me, why do they meet again? Why can't they do some teleconferencing?

Then why did I not even hear 1 mention of him in either my Hons or postgrad year if he was so pivotal?

Godfather, that's what happens when you buy cheese that expired in 2005 ;0 You picked up the joke block.

Off to Tesco tomorrow, cheese will be high on the agenda.

Sjam, Jesus wept! Do you even know what the 'influential' Bilderberg Group is? For crying out loud!

Trouble maker would be more to the point. Many made noises after the war, sjam. Just read Yalta and Tehran. It took 8 years before anything slightly meaningful was signed in the context of international relations and intergovernmental cooperation. Even the Genocide Convention was pushed through before the ECSC.

Food / MARMITE IN POLAND? [96]

Thanks to the generosity of a certain individual, I'll be enjoying it soon next week. The cheese spread (topiony) here is quite good. The Hochland stuff too. A nice combo!
