Life / How easy is it to get into trouble with the Police in Poland? [26]

Czarnuchu is bad tho, right? I wouldn't count on help from the police. How many black Polish police are there nationwide? Can't be many. Many top policemen in America are black, they have all the credentials to make top officers.

Funny you mentioned black policemen. Some time ago i have read an article about foreigners in poland and there was an interview with one black guy who happened to be a policeman. :)

Yes, Czarnuch is a racial slur.

Why wouldn't you think about getting help from the police? It's their job and they are getting paid for it.

To introduce black policemen here would only increase the potential for crime unfortunately.

What would be the reason for it?

UK, Ireland / Do many British carry knives? [60]

if you carry any sort of weapon you run the risk of someone whos just a little bit harder than you, taking it off you and shoving it where the sun doesnt shine.

I would also add that if you do carry any tools with you be sure you are able to actually use it or else it might end up very nasty.

Since we are discussing mindless violence and lack of respect for human life, today NME magazine found its way to my hands I have read an article about that young goth girl that was killed some time ago in the UK.

I'm still angry... Faking chav trash.

UK, Ireland / Are the Poles in England hated? [450]

I'm sure they take a break to spread chaos and mayhem in Prague and Budapest.

I joke, I joke, I kid, I kid. :)

Seriously though most Poles still seem to think that Englishman is a synonym of gentleman.

How far away from the truth can you get, eh? ;)

Life / The strangest things in Poland [468]

They seem to have a fascination with it!

I have the feeling that it's getting worser and worse. I mean I do remember them doing this for years but not as frequently as they seem to do it these days. :/

6) Gravy... Or lack of. :'-(

Lack of yummy sos? Can't be.

Nothing else better to do eh?

Why come to a country to complain about it? Admittedly he was talking bollocks, but if life is such hell in the UK its just as easy to go home as it was to come here in the first place.

Dear God peter, I'm not sure wether you are aware of how this statement perfectly descibes the person you are quoting. lol :)

One thing I'm sure about, if the same number of British people had moved to Poland as Poles moved here then they would have been treated far worse.

How can you be so sure of this?

It doesn't matter weather he was black or not. Your response was definitely too harsh. For both, incubuses and papins posts.

Matyjasz i don't think they ask everybody for 2 zl :) believe me

Maybe, but does it change anything?

I usually park near Fort Kolumb Pub when Im in this part of Poznań so I am not bothered by those bums. Well, if there is a place to park of course. Finding a parking space in Poznań can be often quite of a challenge.

That's what I figured. They seemed like they had a system :) Do you think it's because I'm with women? I'm not sure everyone would pay them off.

From my observation they approach anyone with a car. It's not because you are with two ladies. I don't know if they would do actually anything to your car if you would refuse to pay them. But than again, who would want to find out. :)

Not 100% of the name, but I know it's right off Św. Marcin. I come into the city from Grundwaldzka and it's on the right hand side maybe 2 blocks after a Bank Pocztowy and across from the University.

That's the place. Those guys are almost always there. :)

UK, Ireland / My Views Of Poles Working in the UK [169]

Unfortunately I tend to agree with you Sophia. I was just reading through the recent posts with a view to updating the Omnibus Edition. There are so many outbreaks of intolerance, ignorance and downright insulting/vicious behaviour that I gave up. It's becoming a slanging forum. I know we have had debates on this in the past but this time I think it has gone too far. Not much hope for the world when people are so crystallised in their opinions and reluctant to even try to listen.

It is interesting how easily one can draw a line between people using differences among them, like in this case nationality, and set people against each other.

What saddens me the most is that some people might think that those animosities between poles and brits on this forum look the same in the real life. I must say that aside of few chavs and some british men with their subtle patronizing attitude at the beginning of our meeting, I have nothing but good memories of the UK and its people.

Life / Polish Werewolf myth's and origin stories [12]

Yes and no. :)

As much as the part of EE being unknown for the westerners is true, the reason why Bram Stoker used Transylvania in his horror story about vampires was because it is the place of its origin (not Stokers of course but the figure of vampire as we know it today). The term vampire came most probably from the languages of western Slavs and spread all over eastern and central Europe.

UK, Ireland / My Views Of Poles Working in the UK [169]

Polish people or any migrants should not be allowed ANY benefits. If you cannot find work you should go home.

Polish people are entitled to claim benefits only after they have worked and paid taxes for over a year.

immigration is obviously a concern for many in the uk. ignoring it or labling people who dare to mention it as racists does nothing to address the problem, and it is a problem, and a growing one.

Kilkline, I raise my views as I am a subject of the British Crown. I am a British citizen and unlike Poles, I can vote to change Her Majesty's governments. My opinion is the most important to the government, not a Polish or any other migrant.

Alright than, how can I help you?

May I just add that I am a citizen of Rzeczpospolita Polska without any rights that could change Her Majesty's government and alter its immigration policy what so ever.

Life / The strangest things in Poland [468]

In Poznan there are a few streets that have free parking (sometimes also at the train station), but if you try to park there you're face to face with a strange looking man asking for zloty to park. My gf insists on paying them because she says they can do sth to your car if you don't.

Is it on Ratajczaka Street? :)

News / Why does Poland love the US? [144]

(is it bad taste to say the Holy Father look to be about to start a Rap?)

Well he does got the bling. ;)

As for the proper topic, USA had helped us regained independency two times in one century. If that’s not a reason to like them than there are still Ramones and Misfits. :)

Yes, there was, still those two unions differ a little. Especially in terms of the willingness to access those unions. :)

Travel / Krakow going down the toilet! [184]

I can't comment on the position on the UK, that's for guys ur side. It does get me how Poles are so proud of their country but don't come back. I'm proud of Scotland, but I'm here for my missus.

What makes you sure that the ones that are not back wont be back or that they are proud of Poland? :>

your country would be fu\?**ked without us:)

Before the UK there was Germany, USA, etc... If it werent you there would be other countries for those people. You are not that special you know. :)

???are you denying that centuries ago Poland expanded eastwards???

I'm denying that Poland conquered Lithuania centuries ago, because it didn't. There was a union between those two countries you know. :)

Are all Scots so emotional about history? :)

It's getting better now that bars are open later IMO

"Ohh it looks like it's the last round.."

"What do you mean it's the last round?! The night has just begun damnit!" :/

I'm glad to hear that it's no longer the case. :)

News / Yitzhak Shamir - prime minister of Israel with anti-polish sentiment [41]

Historical facts state that many Ashkenazi Jews (Khazars) were arrested and prosecuted in Poland and Russia which had large Jewish communities, due to Polish and Russian children having a tendency of dissapearing during the Passover period. This dangerous satan worshiping sect - filthy Zionist scum use the blood of Christian children in their sick rituals.

eeeekk :/ I was actually kidding mate. :/

Travel / Krakow going down the toilet! [184]

I've been caught out once or twice by this in Poland. Getting somewhere, buying the first round for however many people and then half the fookers are out the door as soon as their glass is empty. Bad form old chap.

Hehehe... Buying rounds and drinking alcohol just for the sake of being totally inebriated before 11pm were the things that surprised me the most in the “modern brtish culture”. :)

The quietest time was from around 06:00am to 12:00, when the nightmare started all over again. Now do you see any other nation behaving in this way?

Maybe not to that extent but I witnessed similiar behaviour coming from some italian tourists. :/
