I comprehend that very well. Bastard is a child out of wedlock the last time I checked and it is an insult. Those were cruel deaths for sure, but there is no need to call Ukies bastards.
OK...I am a Polish-American, and I have had aquaintences and friendships with many Polaks, Ukies, Jews, Russians and Germans who came over here from the 'old country'...we all came over 'on the boat' so to speak, and share a similiar, yet different, cultural background, due to our Eastern European heritage...Now, let me talk about Ukies...In my high school, which was an early model of 'diversity', we had a fair number of Ukies...they seperated themselves and formed a small clique, and even had a small portion of the building to themselves to hang out in...there were many Jews in my school, too, and perhaps the Ukies felt a bit isolated, so they isolated themselves more...but I also had a good Ukie friend, name of Jerry Hrejka, who got me my first good job, in a Kosher deli to boot!...I made good money for a high school kid...one of my present 'bosses' is a Uke, but he always tries to pretend he is Polish...I told my mother about this, and she said 'His last name isn't Polish, it's Ukranian'...and we still have a decent size Ukranian community in Philadelphia, and they have a wonderful Ukranian cathedral, and are active culturally...so I like Ukies and respect them and their heritage...but some are bastards, just as Polacks and Jews can be bastards too...not to mention Germans and Russians!...and listen: in wartime, all civilized veneer is stripped and the beast is free to murder and rape.
