SMOLENSKI-looking for family, connections?

my last name is Smolenski, I am thirs generation polish, i know my great grandpa came to america during the war and was a stow away on a ship, so therefore he left everything behind, without any contacts, i think i probably have family left in poland, or some region.... anyways i am interested. if any one knows anything about my last name that would be cool.

What state do you live in ? I grew up in the Schenectady-Albany region, in New York. I knew a Smolenski family there. -Just curious.

I can search for old records and census info, WWI and WWII draft registration cards, naturalization petition records, etc, that may list him after he came here, that might also give his hometown in Poland. Just let me know what approx age or dob you have for him and where he ended up in the states.

You could search also at familysearch.org and surnamenavigator.org as well as geneanet.net as well.

Went to high school with a William Smolenski in Nanticoke, PA. Think he still lives there.
