Rather add endings like -ek, -cio, -ik (Rafalek, Rafcio, Rafik), you've got many possibilities here.

Oh cool - but what if someone shortened the name kinda thing - you no when you call someone and you shorten the way you say it would a polish person mind for example: RAF

?

Sarah,

Polish names are shortened in a different way to the English style.
So Katarzyna becomes Kasia. Not Kat. It has an ending that fits the female form in grammar.
They don't seem to use nicknames the way we do. Name changes are rather formal.

I had a big problem with my first name in the UK. Finally, after a lot of trouble, my work mates decided to call me "Magic", because this is how they heard my name was being pronounced, or just used the first three letters, "Mac". :)

Matyjasz

I thought Matyjasz was Matthew in English?

You are both right. Mateusz and Matyjasz (which BTW is the old polish version of Maciej, and is practically no longer being used) are Mathew in English. Unfortunately I didn't knew that at that time. :(

Wow this is really interesting i mean my name is always shortend to sar or for instance kayla to k, we all tend to shorten each others name due to laziness to say the whole name, i have been calling my friend Rafal to Raf and he looks at me very funny when i say it is there a english version to this name such as the one above,

Also there is a name that sounds like shemeck which people call him sam x

I think Raphael is the english eqivalent of the polish Rafał.

It's Przemek. It's a shorter version of Przemysław. Very often it's shortened to Przemol. (pshemol) :)

Hey, don't be sad about it, magic is a brlliant nickname mate! Think of the wow potential when being introduced for the first time to members of the opposite sex.

Friend: Woman x have you met my mate Magic... :)

Matyjasz so it still isn't shortened at all is it what about the name sarah in polish?

Matyjasz was being used in the XVII century. Maciej is the proper version these days. Females usually call me Maciek. ( matchek) :)

what about the name sarah in polish?

It's Sara. It's a very short name, so we don't need to shorten it more in polish. :(

Oh that took you a while to get back i think it is really interesting the way names get shortened and come out rather differently then they do here in england x

:) Well this shortened versions are also diminutives. That's probably why they sound so different.
