Czyżyny is a region in Kraków. North East from the downtown.

Mogiły are closer to Warsaw, between £ódż and Warsaw. It's a small community with about 120 people. It's now called Joachimów-Mogiły

krysia,
Thanks for your information. You mentioned Mogity. Is that the same place as Mogita or Mogila? Villa Mogita and Villa Czyzyny are listed as Catholic churches or centers. Can you clarify all of this for me?

I did some more research and found a tiny village called Mogiła. It's south of the city Zamość and close to the Russian border. It belonged to Russia at one time.

There is also a Mogiła, a district of Kraków, same as Czyżyny.
Villa means Village, or district. In Polish it's a Wieś, small village in the country. That's why they say Wieś Mogiła meaning Villa Mogiła. Here are two churches in Mogiła:

Thanks for your help Krysia. Your information about Czyzny helped me locate the Villa Cyzyny church records and the date of birth for my great grandfather.

Mogila and Czyzyny used to be beautiful villages near Krakow. Before I world war they belonged to Austro-Hungarian Empire. After II world war they were destroyed by comunists as a huge fctory was built there. Now this place is called Nowa Huta and everything is made of concrete. However these two places have a beautifu history starting in 13th century when a famous sanctuary in Mogila was founded (John Paul II visted this place).

Hello everyone,

I just found out that I have cousins in Nowy Świętów in the Opolskie Province. Unfortunately I cannot communicate at all in Polish...yet. I am hoping that someone might be able to find out the name of the church in that area and let me know. I figured that if I could find the church for that area I could later have someone a letter in Polish for me to see if my cousins still attend there. I guess this sounds a little nutty, but I have been working so hard to try and find my relatives...if I could just find one person I would be happy. Anyway, thanks in advance to anyone who thinks they might be able to help :) I tried the phone book and she and her children are not in there (I only know the maiden name Brogowska).

I guess this sounds a little nutty,

nasza klasa.pl

Has four pages of people with the name you are after. A few of these show up as maiden name.

If you would like me to do another search... PM me.

I will not put living people's info on the forum.
