Hello my name is jozef Kis and I live here in the uk. I would like to find out more about my fathers parents. My Father moved to England in 1945 with his Brothers and Sisters. They settled in Manchester, but my Father eventually moved down to brighton on his own shortly after. He did not always keep in touch with his family, and there is a few unanswered question I need to know. He did not want to talk about his family life in Poland, but he told me that he was born in a place called stolpin, which he said was in Krackow? But in fact it was not. In fact Stolpin is about 500 miles away, and now in Ukarine! Also his brother and sisters used the name kis ! But he told me that my grandfathers name- his Father was Fedorovic ? I did travel with my partner to Krackow, but did not look up to see where Stolpin was before we left.. I would like to get to the bottom of this, and I am thinking of travelling to Manchester in the near furture to maybe get some answers. If in the meantime someone could help me in my quest, that would be great.

Jozef

There are two places called Stolpin. The nearest to Krakow is on the border. Krakow seems to be the nearest big city and so may have been the admin area at the time. Hence, I'm from Krakow.

I was able to find only one locality called Stołpie in the Chełm area on the Ukrainian border, hence far to the east of Kraków.
