A few people have told me that they could tell "just by looking" that I have Polish ancestry. (My grandfather was Polish.) Do you think they were feeding me a line, or do you think I do look Polish? Just curious. (I'm the female in the pic.)
Also, does anyone have any information about the surname "Kupiec"? Is there a particular part of the country where that name is common?
Yes, he is my husband, not my brother. (It's funny you should say he looks Polish. To our knowledge, he has no Polish ancestry. He's German and French.)
You look "all American". Hard to pin point ethnicity though. What's the rest of your ancestry? You're only a 1/4 Polish? But it's good you picked a white guy.
You wouldn't think so if you saw me in person. I'm only five feet tall and I don't have unusually large breasts. (I remember reading somewhere that if Barbie's measurements were extrapolated to the point where she were human sized, she'd be very tall and have a chest so large she'd have trouble not toppling over.) Besides, I have a hunchback and an extra finger (like Anne Boelyn). Just kidding.
As for the rest of my ancestry, I'm 1/4 Dutch, 1/4 French, and 1/4 who knows what (one of my grandparents was adopted, though we suspect he was English).
You are probably mixed.Maybe italian-polish sth like that.Or french-polish.

I told you already.Definetely only high cheeks have remained from the polish phenotype. Dutch is the line between the eyes and the front and the mouth. The eyes are french.
I would like to borrow your thread to ask the same question. I hope I am not intruding. I was adopted as a child and am recently discovering my Eastern European ancestry. I know that my maternal grandmother was Polish, and my maternal grandfather was Hungarian. The other side of my biological roots were from Suriname and the Dutch Caribbean, and include Arawak Indian. All I have for now is this goofy picture, but hopefully, it will do.
It's not such an easy question to answer. I have three girls in the house and no two of them look the same. And two of them are sisters.
I'm sure that we all have characteristics that might fit. I'm not sure about your eyes...maybe yes maybe no. Your cheeks and the lower part of your face look too full.

Thank you for your feedback. It could be that I resemble my Hungarian side more, or my biological father's side. Since I am adopted and have not been to either country yet, this is but one way I have of seeking out questions of identity.
Calicoe- you look like a polish girl i know Agneshka so yeah in my oppinion you do
Hi Calicoe Try not to get too mixed up over your ancestry. My Mother was adopted and the search for her roots literally drove her mad. It’s always nice to know where you come from and have family stories retold. I had that on my dad’s side but my mother would always stiffen during the retellings.
No, I haven't taken one yet but I'd love to do so. I also have ancestry from Hungary and Arawak Indians, so I'd love to see why my haplogroup will show.
Edit: I tried to upload another picture, but my files are too big.
Calicoe, i have a Polish friend who looks a bit like you... dark brown eyes, blond hair and high cheeks... but sometimes it's hard to say what nationality somebody is only by looks...
I know. I'm sorry to seem self-absorbed. I'm not. It's just that the curiosity gets to me sometimes. I am from New York but currently living in DC, so I will have to seek some of them out (Poles in NY). Thanks for your thoughtful responses.
