My ancestors came from Trzemeszno to the United States in 1865. I believe Trzemeszno is around the Poznan region. I don't know much about Trzemeszno and was wondering if anyone could give me some information about the region. My ancestors last name was Stiller, although it has been written as Sztyler to Polanize the last name. I do know that they spoke fluent German and Polish.

It's a small town near Gniezno - the first Polish capital.

There are only 316 Sztylers in today's Poland, but none in the Poznań area itself. Some do live in Wielkopolska (the voivodship Poznań is in) in and around the cities of Leszno (17) south of Poznań, Kalisz (8) to the SE of it and Piła (4) to the north of Poznań. The largest Sztyler clusters are found in and around the southern city of Katowice (42) and the SE city of Tarnów (52). For more information contact:

My name is Maciej Adamski and I am from Trzemeszno. I am interested in the history of Trzemeszno and I am looking for information of the people who went to the USA from Trzemeszno. As far as I know many of them settled in Grand Rapids. I will be grateful for any information on them, photos etc. You can mail me- ilonama@poczta.onet.pl. In exchange I can share information on Trzemeszno/ Tremessen.
