Does anyone know of this Generals descendants. He died in an uprising against the czar in warsaw. What of his decendants? I understand the direct line ended in the 20's with the death of halina Sowinska. Anyone know?

I was born in Poland and I guess like most people I would like to find out more about my family tree.
Unfortunately I do not come across many Polish genealogy sites that would be able to help me in my quest.
We have the surname Dolniak in my family as well and I cannot find any bit of information on the name.
So I guess my question would be:
1. Could you refer any Polish genealogy sites that are helpful.
2. Have you ever heard of the name Dolniak?
Thanks

Guest,
The first part of genealogy is gathering info from family members, checking and collecting family photos and family papers.
Have you done this yet ?
You don't need Polish genealogy sites, but of course in some situations they help.
Go to: familysearch
It's a good place to start.
For us to help you we need names and dates and place of birth.
Many of the results will come up showing either Poland, Austria, Prussia, Russia.
Just keep posting questions and, if we can answer them we'll be happy to do so.

The Dolniak family lived in Poznan.
Leon Dolniak and his wife Cecylia.
Cecylia Dolniak was a mystery to everyone and no information is know apart from the fact she was rescued from a SS general by my grandfather during WW2 and they married.
Leon Dolniak served in the Polish army during WW2 and was mentioned in some war books.
Where would I be able to find information on his activities during the war - is this even possible to research?
Sowinski - I have been told that it is a very common name
Thanks

I think you'll have to wait for someone else to answer that. I don't know about war records.
But you might find some links here on the forum. There is a links thread and some genealogy links are mixed in with other genealogy threads.
I'll see what I can find about the names, but not today. I'll let you know what I find in a day or two.
If these people moved to the USA or UK you should check Naturalization Records.
