Daughter, 30, disappeared August 25th Warsaw. Stayed in hotel Warszawa Chopin.

Can somebody help us or advise anything?
My daughter disappeared yesterday, 8/25 in Warsaw on the way from the hotel to the airport. She spent a week in Warsaw alone as a tourist. She checked out of the hotel and never made her flight. The embassy has not found her, there is no information from police or hospitals. She is a level-headed girl, no fantasies, she has to be at work today. We live near New York. She is a young attractive woman of 30, can this play a role? Could she be abducted? She stayed in a hotel Warszawa Frederyk Chopin at Al. Jana Pawla II.

Please advise.

I advise you to post her picture, that way the chances someone finds her are bigger.

i'm afraid there is not much this forum can do fo you, you must sit tight and wait for the news from the police. has she got a cell phone on her? does she speak Polish? as horrible as it is, people disappear everyday in Warsaw and everwhere else, not just toursists but native people as well. it's only been a day, maybe something came up and she couldn't make her flight? this must be very awful for you and i hope your daughter is found safe and sound. best of luck.

good idea with the picture, do the police in Warsaw have a photograph of her?

When was the last time you spoke to her ?

She must have checked out in the morning, yes/no

What time was her flight ?

Did she take a cab ? if so, did the hotel order it ?

Does she have a mobile phone ? The phone company might be able to trace the signal.

I really hope she will be found soon!

But statistically, most people who "disappear" do it intentionally. It's likely that she will show up soon. But continue to check police and all hospitals daily. Please keep us updated.

I would not think she has been abducted, from the language you have used it seem slike you may think she has been adbucted by sex traffickers. To put you at ease about this, the people running these rings don't tend to abduct western women (and no offence) they also usually tend to go for the younger age scale (even if she was an attractive 30) 15,16,17,18 etc etc is usually their age range. THe other thing is that abducting a British/American is that the investigation for missing persons is a lot better than say in Asia or even in Eastern Europe.

Unless there is any other possible reason you could think she has been abducted, i think you can be safe in the mind she has not been taken anywhere.


this is a very important point, if the hotel can confirm whether she did/did not take a cab and with which company, there may be a way you can atleast find her last known whereabouts through the cab company.


I would also look down this avenue too, mobile phones can be tracked if they are switched on. Did your daughter take her original mobile phone or a replacement that worked within the EU community??

From memory that hotel has no taxis of its own and I don’t remember seeing taxis waiting outside it. Which means that your daughter probably took a taxi from there. I suggest that you call the hotel and ask them which taxi company they normally call when a guest asks them to call a taxi. Call that taxi company and ask them which driver responded to that call.

If the hotel didn’t call for a taxi, you will need to ask them to check their security camera footage, they know what time she checked out so it will be easy for them to find the time that she went outside. Although that hotel is fairly old (at least 14 years old) it must have cameras and the picture quality might be good enough to get the licence plate of the cab she got into.

The good news is that the American embassy are without a doubt the best in town when it comes to looking after their citizens.

She came back last night, she missed her plane, stayed another night and could not get in touch with us. Thank you to everybody for your concern and help. She used to be a regular on the Polish forums (Chomchik?) and learned Polish by herself in a year.

She loved Warsaw and Poland and said it is a great country to live in, quiet, courteous and beautiful.
