so there's no turks in turkey we are all greeks who suppose ourselves turkish :P

If you noticed I did not write that.I wrote that Turks living in the west coast of Turkey have greek ancestry. The ones who live inside,in Ankara,Eski Sehir,Dijarbakir etc have no greek ancestry. The mongolic sign appears in 1% of the population there. They come from the area which now belongs to Turkmenistan. They came when the Chinese pressed them because they had been pressed by the Mongols. Then Dzengish Khan pressed the Ottomans who had remained there till 13th century to come as well,so they had coallition against the Seltzuks who took the land from Byzantine in 11th century.

Pepole who live in central, eastern Turkey are a mix of Seltzuk,Ottomans mostly.More east they are Kurds.

how come this thread turned into a political/racist one?

because some people here want to make racist and stupid comments whenever they hear the word "Turkey".

I thought they got their asses kicked at Vienna and were chased back with their tails between their legs?
Since then begging on their knees to be allowed back but to no avail?
Do you mean these Turks?

PS: Turks and Arabs don't look like Europeans...so no enhancements for them! :)

I once saw a figure suggesting about 11% Turkic origin in the population of Turkey.

some people here want to make racist and stupid comments whenever they hear the word "Turkey".

The first comment I usually want to make is one about preferring Guinea Fowl or Pheasant.
But I do tend to be flippant like that.

It is not accurate. You should take into account that 25% of turkish population are actually Kurds who lived there from ancient times.Even Ksenofon refers to them. They are described as Karduchi,a folk living in mountains in the area of today Kirkuk,Mosul and eastern Turkey. They were fearsome warriors and caused casualties to greek army of 10000 men which tried to escape from Babylon to Greece after the defeat of Persian prince who they tried to help against his brother to become king. This happened in 402-400 BC.Kurds had lived there since maybe 1000 years before or even more.

It is not accurate

But the Kurds are not Turkic, so what should that figure look like?

I have brown eyes....which pisses me off because both my parents and their parents and relatives all have blue or hazel eyes...wtf.

My brother and I are the only ones in the family with brown eyes. I have been told I have sexy eyes, though, so I can't complain too much. Also, I've been told I have very "deep" eyes, whatever that means...

=\

oh, it is not exclusive to Turkey, I am sure they would (including me) find an opportunity to turn a duscussion about Thanksgiving turkey into a political/racial one as well. Don't ask me why and how. We are masters of turning and manipulating the truths and facts around to no end.

The positive thing is that if they are talking to you - that means they like you:). How can a German (no pun intended Bratwurst Boy) miss the oportunity to tease a Turkey/turkey ??? It is all good.

If you think that you know who you are and waht your values are than the forum is a good
way to find out if it is in fact what you really are because people will challange you to no end, which is all goood.

I have brown eyes....which pisses me off because both my parents and their parents and relatives all have blue or hazel eyes...wtf.

This is why:

Eye color is a physical trait that is determined by the pairing of genes from both parents. It used to be thought that a single gene pair following dominant and recessive inheritance patterns was responsible for this trait. Now it is known to be much more complex, involving at least three gene pairs. Geneticists have focused on two of the three gene pairs to help clarify the inheritance of eye color: EYCL1 (the gey gene) and EYCL3 (the bey2 gene).

Genes come in different forms, called alleles. The gey gene has two alleles, green and blue; the bey2 gene has two alleles, brown and blue. The brown allele is always dominant over the green and blue alleles, the green allele is always dominant over the blue allele, and the blue allele is always recessive.

It is possible for two brown-eyed parents to have a child with a different eye color than theirs. For two brown-eyed parents to have a blue-eyed child, for example, the mother and father would need to pass on a pair of blue alleles each to their offspring. If this child were to get one green allele in this mix instead, s/he would have green eyes; however, if a brown allele is present, regardless of what the other three alleles are, the child would have brown eyes.

So melon kitty, one or both of your parents carry the brown allele (I'm guessing) which is dominant over green or blue.

WTF happened there

good qiestion there Shell;)

Some of the colours have recessive genes in them. I forgot how it works but sometimes we get the colour from the grandparents.

I have green and somwhat freeky eye colour but I can easily trace them back in my family to the male members. Got it from my grandfather thorugh my father.
