Polish ppl are naturally smaller.

Umm.. no, not really. They are naturally slim, yes, not small.

Average height for a male is 5'10-5'11, while average height for women is about 5'7

Maybel Polish people don't have low fat, no salt & low sugar cook book yet. Most of receipes may not taste good. I think we don't have to eat periogi, polish sausgage, ham and red meats all the time. They can change their foods habit every other days.

I never been in Poland and have not ideas.

Chicken in breadcrumbs and mashed potato served with a salad that's 50% mayonnaise.
Chicken in breadcrumbs and mashed potato served with beetroot.
Chicken in breadcrumbs and mashed potato served with gherkins.
Chicken in breadcrumbs and mashed potato served with mayonnaisey salad again.
Fish in breadcrumbs (hey, it's piÄ…tek) served with mash...

I had a go at cooking barszcz. That's quite healthy. But all those breadcrumb coatings on everything, it does soak up a lot of fat, and they don't exactly go for olive oil in a big way. I like a bit of lardy food on my plate, but I do enjoy a salad and I do like diversity. There's some really nice food from Poland, but let's not kid ourselves into thinking it's good stuff every time. People do just shovel a load of unhealthy stuff down their necks day after day.

I'm British and skinny, by the way. 70kg and 180cm. Unlikely for a donkey, eh?

Sad that people have misconceptions of Polish food. When I stay with my family, we eat very healthy, mostly fresh vegetables and they never use lard, cream very sparingly once in awhile, barely ever. I know in Krakow now there are a lot of healthy choices and vegetarian restaurants as well.

I wouldnt be so sure of that, I bought some great vegetarian cookbooks on my last visit to Poland (po polsku, of course)

First, let's establish that you're not from the moon. You're not, right? Ok, I'll take your word. Cuisines develop consistent with the circumstances in which people find themselves. Probably the most important of the circumstances is the availability of particular foods. You're not likely to eat ham if you don't have any pigs around or mangoes if they don't grow in your area. So to some extent, this is accidental. Climate also plays a role. You're more likely to eat fatty foods in cooler climates, or at least that's the way it looks. Body types probably play some role in what you eat too, although how that works is probably pretty complicated. And cuisines develop with time too. I'm sure the Poles will eventually drop fat and adopt a macrobiotic and vegan lifestyle, although not soon. They may even substitute tequila for vodka, but long after they become vegans.

Well, diets high in saturated fats (ie: polish food) contribute to heart disease(HD). African americans eat lots of deep fried foods (KFC) and HD among them is much higher than their white american counterparts. I once read on gazeta.pl that HD is on the rise in PL simply because poles eat too much fat and are becoming less active. I remember when i was a child, my grandmother made me a sandwich with (no joke) a 0.5 cm thick layer of butter!!! I make polish food from time to time, minus the excess fat, and it still tastes great.

...who does? I almost never use the stuff, and neither do my relatives, friends, other people I know... Little old ladies probably do, but little old ladies the world over have weird cooking habits, don't you agree? ;-)

Interesting reading but it was 2007 ?

I noticed the information came from WHO but it does make you wonder how they arrive at that list. Wonder how they get their statistics ? Has to be based on a lot of averages and assumptions I think ?

Two years is a long time for lots of things to change ?
But I take your point. This is from the WHO site, it's in graph form which is really interesting too !
