My mom is visiting and she is cooking a huge pot of barszcz ukrainski, the best soup on this planet, it is full of beef, potatoes and lots of veggies including grated beets.

barszcz

I'm too lazy to find a recipe, but not too lazy to actually try cooking it. I have just painted about half of the walls in my kitchen and the floor is strewn with various tools and boxes of stuff, and I still have no work surface on which to prepare anything.

My local greengrocer does have raw beetroot though. So perhaps soon I will be able to give it a go. But, as I said, I am lazy. Could someone send me a recipe within the next couple of weeks?

I'll be having something un-Polish this evening.

Birthday Dinner Ideas?

I want to make a surprise Polish dinner for my Polish friend's birthday but I'm not really sure what I should make. I've looked at all kinds of recipes but I was wondering if anyone could give me some advice on what I should make for this special dinner. I'm also planning to make a birthday cake. Any ideas :)?
