We used to have raw egg yolk in lots of things when I was a kid. It was supposed to make us strong. My father used to wash it down with vodka. I really like it, but now I'm afraid to eat it - afraid of salmonella.

yup we still do it over here!

*sigh* i miss that. really want some but dont think i'll ever have it again. i hear it's really good with chocolate powder :)

beer in Poland used to be drunk rather with raspberry syrup, not cherry (IF adding any syrup).

why used to be drunk? it still is:) I think raspberry syrup is perfect for beer. in polish pubs beer is also served with ginger syrup.

I'm not trying to be girly or anything.

don't care about this:) indeed more girl than boys drink beer with syrup but it's not the rule.

as for żubrówka, try it with apple juice and a pinch of cinnamon. it tastes really good:)

yeah, Żubrówka is most ppopular with apple juice (not syrup), but beer in Poland used to be drunk rather with raspberry syrup, not cherry (IF adding any syrup).

raspberry or ginger sirup ;) there is also a blue sirup which makes beer go green, and its drank on st paddy's day!

By the way, does cherry syrup and vodka (Zubrowka) taste good? I'll try to get the vodka this weekend. :)

a splash of raspberry sirup served with a shot of vodka and tabasco is called mad dog

What's good with chocolate powder

Hot milk :)

anyone know where to get Zuberek apple juice in the nottinghamshire region

It's not juice. It's more of a strong apple syrup. I was only able to find it in PL, but it was attached to the bottle as a promo.

You are NOT AT ALL girly. Cherry is a little unusual, raspberry is more common. In fact, raspberry syrup in beer is a popular traditional drink in Berlin. It's called a Berliner Weiser. Not only is it popular in Berlin, it's considered to by very therapeutic for the kidneys all across Germany. I have 2 friends in the Frankfurt area that had kidney stones. They each went to a different MD, but both got the same prescription. They were given standard kidney stone medicine, BUT were also told to drink 2-3 Berliner Weisers every day. For kidney stones unpasteurized beer was recommended. So DRINK UPAND ENJOY IT!

Hmmm... I'm not a fan of piwo z sokiem. I had it on my first trip to Poland, but found it far too sweet.

On the subject of Polish beers, I recently discovered Bosman. Now that is lovely beer :P

I had beer with syrup for the first time a few weeks ago in a Polish bar in Chicago. It was surprisingly good. Bitter on the front end, sweet on the finish.
