I Really Think You Should Change Polish Forum Checker.........

I really think you should change Polish Forum checker:

Reason why, I am trying to see if someone replied back to me. Which mean I have to read all the posts I posted to find if someone is replying back to me? You should add Message For You in Checker.

Your reply box is bad. Every time I clicked reply to the person I wanted to posted. I get same reply box from bottom reply box. I prefer to post to person I am posting instead of everybody. [For example, when I get email from someone, I reply back to the person who sent me message]. It is easy this way instead of reading all posts I posted in checker. I have no ways knowing who is posting to me and persons who have no ways of knowing who is posting to them. Get rid of reply box from bottom and add the NEW THREAD for us to posts in categories threads. Add New Message For You in Checker.

Your Private Mail is great and I know who I posted and person wanted to chat with me in private. Which is okay?

My personal computer is great and also I get Messages For You from pen pal in my Chat room. I don't have to read whole forums just for my name. My computer Forum is great and more updated which I know who is my Pen Pals and I replied back to person who sent me messages.

I think you should add Message For You in checker. I do hope you agrees with me.

If they did they will most likely have quoted you. Or if it's more of a personal reply then they should PM you. These are discussion forums not chat rooms. It's not an email service either, private chats with someone can be made in PM. ;)

It wouldn't make sense for you to reply to someone and have you post appear directly under theirs if there had already been several posts made in the thread before you replied. The thread wouldn't make sense. If you quote someone using the quote system and added your message then you will have answered their point directly but without interrupting the flow of the thread.

The idea of the checker is that it will show all messages posted in a thread since you last checked the checker. If someone has replied to you it will show in the checker.

To keep track of the threads you have posted in you can use "My Threads" which is found a the top of the page.

Any forum which I have seen will post a new reply at the end of the thread regardless of whether or not the message box or reply buttons are used.

I think you should add Message For You in checker

If it's possible I am sure it will be considered. :)

Arlene, the forums are"public forums" which means anyone can reply. If you want to post to one member only, then PM is the only way to do it. Do you use your profile page to see which threads you last posted in?

I have no ways knowing who is posting to me and persons who have no ways of knowing who is posting to them.

Most members will quote a few lines of your post when replying to you and this has been used for many years and works well.

No changes necessary I think. I use the "My Threads" to see if anyone has posted in threads that I have participated in.

It would still be nice, if you could be able to disable some threads to appear in the "My threads" or even whole subforums, it's because it doesn't make much sense to have some longer threads in there which you don't want to follow anymore... such as "random thread"... an ignore option or smth..

then PM instead of posting, eh? it's not that hard to do.

Any forum which I have seen will post a new reply at the end of the thread regardless of whether or not the message box or reply buttons are used.

or top in many that are in the reverse order to here.

an ignore option or smth..

is it that hard not to look at those.

i never use the checker.. just latest threads. it works great.

Yes, I do checked on My Threads but it don't tell me if I have messages from someone. I am sure someone wouldn't know if he have messages too.

As for latest threads, we still have to look for messages which you posted and wanted to see if someone replied back to you. I always had to put person's name so I am replying back to them.

Do you think it is wasting time to read all messages when clicking latest threads? Some time I don't get messages at all. Which is okay with me? Sometime I have private message which help me to know someone wanted me to read the posts which I overlooked.

As for My Threads I always have to read and some of threads are over 100 messages, who have time to read all of this messages which isn't for me. It was last time I posted and forgotten to read it back in Jan. 09. Someone is wondering how come I am not replying back to person.

i never use the checker.

I'm talking about "My Threads" not the checker, on every board I was registered there were more or less expanded "thread ignore" and "subforum ignore" options. I know it's pretty easy to implement it on a phpbb forum, maybe the engine behind this forum is less prone to updates and changes. I don't see any optimization in skimming through same long threads in "My Threads" just because I posted in them once ,long time ago. The same with "latest discussions" window - ignoring subforums could be a nice way to filter out only those messages which are of interest to you..

besides if there's an information about threads you created and posted in, in your profile, then it should be really easy to put a checkbox there and another boolean column in the database with the "ignore" information in it, one loops with if statement while showing the query's result..

anyway, millions of people are probably wrong, so let that stay the way it is ; )

I was thinking that Polish Forum should get rid of My Threads, we don't need them.

Add New Message For You and so we know who's posting and it will automating go to other threads.

It would be easy to get rid of My Threads.

I think that we do need them. A lot of people use them so they can read over the threads they've posted in.

Add New Message For You

We already have that, it's Private Mail and it's right up the top of your screen. As I said before, use your checker or My Threads to keep track of the threads you've posted in and you'll see if anyone posted a reply to your posts.

But I love my threads.

Yes, I do checked on My Threads but it don't tell me if I have messages from someone. I am sure someone wouldn't know if he have messages too.

How would you determine if message is directed to you or not? Like in the message the poster should mention your name and if they don't mention your name it means the post is not directed to you?

I think you are very confused about private messages versus forum messages...

As for My Threads I always have to read and some of threads are over 100 messages, who have time to read all of this messages which isn't for me. It was last time I posted and forgotten to read it back in Jan. 09. Someone is wondering how come I am not replying back to person.

Again, how would you define a 'message for you'?

Either way, using the Checker would solve your problem. If not, you can always add any thread to your Favorite threads and then periodically check only these threads.

The same with "latest discussions" window - ignoring subforums could be a nice way to filter out only those messages which are of interest to you..

I'm talking about "My Threads" not the checker, on every board I was registered there were more or less expanded "thread ignore" and "subforum ignore" options.

In the checker you can specify which forums you want to check messages from and which to ignore.

I am going to explains you how it works. Do you read Rootweb? When you posted your messages to someone and you will get messages from someone by Rootweb alert you that you have messages and click on Rootweb. It will direct you to threads which you posted.

In here there is not messages alert, all I have to read all messages even I don't get reply back from someone in My Thread. I have to read to find if someone is posting to me. We are reading all messages regarding who is replying back to whomever.

When you posted your messages to someone and you will get messages from someone by Rootweb alert you that you have messages and click on Rootweb.

So it's like conversation between two posters that is publicity available? What if more than two posters (including you) posted in that thread, does it always mean they 'posted to you' or maybe to another poster in this thread?

It will direct you to threads which you posted.

Hm, you wrote earlier we should get rid of the My Threads feature which does the same thing..

It appears to me rootweb is more like a personal conversation between up to a few people and it cannot be compared to PF where hundreds of people may post in the same thread.
