Can we have signatures?

Because adding more and more "whistle-bells-noise" features would make a forum site like this a "myspace-like site" (which we want to avoid).

agreed but you are the one who added videos. Smilies are hardly "whistle-bells_noises" they were very peacefull as i remember

Is anyone else confused? How can a forum not be like myspace but at the same time become like it if it has normal forum features.

Don't go giving that lead to the Alchemist he'll add smileys and then it'll be all shiny which means it'll be gold... We don't want gold around here.

All those prospectors with their slurp machines.... No we have to draw a line in the sand, if it really is sand and not just glass in waiting.

But you can't turn base metals into something it's not.

<unconvinced look>

They also said that the moon was rock, but now we all know it's turned into cheese. Why else would it have so many holes on it. Asteroids? Do me a lemon.

"added videos"? - we added an embedded link to a video, not a video feature. Similar to Image Link.

well when you compare the video link to the smilies which one is more like the myspace you are saying contains "whistle-bells-Noise" features?

time to upgrade :)

At the end of the day users choose simplicity and usefulness over unnecessary noise and bellsNwhistles. Hueg, UkinPoland, yours todays, tomorrows, in a weeks, in a months posts here will just prove that. :)

Will prove I get bored in the evening's after work.

If you get bored with useful and informative posts, logically you should get bored with 10 repetative graphic smileys (or signatures) [even faster], too.

Alas admin why do you have to be so stuborn about this?

Because from my professional experience participating and developing online forums it seems like the best solution in the long run. It's not to "show the power" (as you have suggested; because only fools would try to shoot themselves in the foot); it's for the overall long-term good quality of the forum.

Got to hand it to you, you know how to load the deck. You ever worked in a casino?

We aren't here for the drab decor, we're here for the friends we've made. The reason we regulars post now is less to do with Poland and more to do with the interaction i'd hazard a guess. We've been hurtling down the information superhighway miserable in the rain and to numb the anonimity we've been waving at the car next to us, they flash their lights back, we're communicating.

Now it makes the journey a bit more fun.

Are we there yet? Who cares, i'm enjoying the ride.

Damn, the windscreen wipers just broke. I can't see now

Hence why there is an outcry, we cannot interact the same way anymore. Try speaking without changing your intonation to express suprise, sadness, shock disgust.

We can't do that without the aid of technology on a forum. Just like I can't wipe the windows of my car without that little lever on the dash.

Give us our windscreen wipers back and bubba his fourth star. :)

Thanks for noticing - hopefully most users will agree with you and me on that [if not now, then in the future].

I definitly agree, but I still think 1 single line for a sig wouldn't be a bad thing :)

Hueg

With your prejudice against the admin/moderators I feel you will never be happy, no matter what. Even the slightest change or "fau-pax" from our part would make you post stories how bad it is or what could be done to make it (in theory) better.

My suggestion is - let it go and keep in mind that I or moderators care about the long-term success of the site even more than you do. And they are not personally against you or any other member.

Only then you'll be able to enjoy the forums and your friends fully.

With your prejudice

lol

Prejudice? <prune with impudence.>

Hello Pot, this is Kettle, colour check over. :)

Oh congratulations on totally ignoring any valid points and hijacking this thread and insulting a fellow forum member.

ToS got a link handy?

just to live up to my new found reputation as faux pas spotlight operator.

"fau-pax"

Your reply suggest you are still unhappy.

Until your last post I was very happy. Having a civilised conversation amongst supposed like minded individuals.

Still if you sit at Piccadilly Circus for long enough they reckon that every chimp with a typewriter will come past eventually so some get-a-piece-of-Heug was not entirely unexpected when I poked my name over the parapet. Not everyone enjoys having me pick over their foibles, including the administration it would appear.

I'm only an avatar anyway and remain undamaged by text-weaponry.

So about these smileys...

About smileys: they will not come back. Signatures will not be implemented either. I think it's only fair to explicitally say it (as I said it a few times before).

It's a good idea to speak Polish if you want to moderate the English-Polish translation section ;). Currently in Chicago area, USA.

It's time for everybody to stop bickering over smileys. It looks like they are GONE for ever.

Adios. Goodbye. Żegnaj. Au revoir. Do sveedanya. Ciau Mio Amore Smiley!

Smile and move on.

what exactly is a forum signature?

A signature is a repetitive text, like a favorite quote or something (sometimes with a graphic) that appears under the post. So if a person posts 10 messages on one page, the reader can see 10 times the same text over again by each post.
