Hello Admin,

How are you?... everything ok? :) ... had lunch? .... ;) ...

Ok... now lets talk business 8o)...

I suggest that you can introduce a new link :). A link called 'Opinion Polls'.

In this new link, arrange voting software. Here we can write an issue, over which we can give options (choices), and people can vote on it. The result will be shown in bar chart style...immediately when the vote is taken!... and the voter identity dont have to be exposed (if he doesnt expose him/herself later the thread starter can choose to let comments 'on' or 'off'). One member can vote only once :)!

Think about it!... I hope I contributed something worthwhile to your intellectual self!

Thinking... There are two coins of that though. Forum performance versus the "added value". Polls script is heavy and require a lot of resources. Plus it seems the polls results may create yet another stereotype (if there are less than 3,000 votes, the polls results are not accurate), and we want to avoid that.

Yeah, I've been thinking about that too!

A poll script requires more resources but I mean.. with today's computers & internet connections, that's really minor.

On the other hand, it's true that there's a chance you'll create stereotypes. As eg if it was in the Polish forums it doesn't reflect the opinion of the Polish but that of the people on the forum only.. But then again, we all know that right?

Isn't there a script where you can have rules for polls? Such as only max. x poll for users y per z days.. if you know what I mean.. or only relevant polls?

With polls there's yet another serious problem - the poll creator would actually have to take his/her time to create a poll to make sure it is as objective as possible. In most cases, it would also require doing actual research. Would many members take their time to do that? (especially if some, for some reasons, cannot follow simple topic creation rules)...

For example, if there are presidential elections in Poland, in order to create a useful poll the poll creator would have to do research and list ALL possible scenarios/candidates.

Polls like:

Who should be the next president of Poland?

a) Kaczynski
b) Tusk
c) Other

would be too narrow-minded and subjective; thus, not very useful.

I guess you have a point, there would be lots of senseless narrow-minded polls
Maybe if we all behave & stop nagging about smileys? ;-)
