The "Poland Polls" feature has been released

The "Poland Polls" forum feature has been released. Now all PolishForums members who have posted a specified number of forum messages (currently 50+) may create a poll when they start a new thread.

There are a couple of very important rules which must be followed in order to make sure the polls are both objective and reasonable:

- Polls must cover a reasonable number of possible choices. The selected choices must be as objective as possible. For example, if someone starts a poll about "Who will be the next president of Poland," the presented choices must include all reasonable possibilities, not only those represented by the person who started the poll.

- Polls must closely relate to Poland and Polish issues. For this reason, it is not possible to create polls in all forums.

Polls which don't meet the above criteria are subject to being deleted at any time.

One member may vote one time only. It is not possible for forum moderators to artificially inflate the results.

Thank you for supporting the PF project.

Can the poll be part of a thread or does it have to be its own entity?

Edit - I have just seen the threads relating to the polls - just ignore me.

Admin,

Usually i'm slagging you off or telling you you've dropped a clanger, however this is a very good idea, i think it will add greatly to the forums and will enable the OP to gather people's views or perceptions a lot quicker than having to read through a lot of posts saying 'yes' 'no' etc etc.

Thanks for the new feature

BTW, someone has just created two polls within a few minutes. It is odd, because to create a good and useful poll it usually takes a longer time. Normally the polls would have been deleted, but it could be a good practice.

Before creating a poll it's important to actually learn what makes a good poll or survey question. Here is an informative starting point for those who are thinking about creating a poll: statpac.com/surveys/question-qualities.htm

To admin: I'd rather have my original questions in this poll. Sanitizing poll questions of political correctness is pathetic.

Before creating a poll you must learn what makes a good poll or survey because I don't have much time editing polls either..

maybe he just wanted to be the first to create a poll, so he just rushed into it :)

To admin: you seem to take polls seriously but then post your own if you need relevant results. Editing MY poll questions is like editing user commentary.

You replaced one question with "Yes, but being mean doesn't depend on nationality."
lol - It's your ADMIN input, not mine. I'm not interested in answers to your questions. Put your own polls for it.

I guess it's good someone takes it seriously. While you can have thousands of posts as a member, your one poll may actually have a stronger audience and voice. The problem with polls is that they may build more stereotypes if they are not properly constructed.

If 1,000 people read the poll's results today, they won't usually care about who posted the poll. But many of them will actually remember the poll's results which mean they will build an opinion. If you don't give enough objective options, ask a second question in a poll's answer, allow too many/too few answers, it could be at least confusing.

I haven't seen the original questions of Kowalski, but this poll about "mean Poles" sucks big time. It's like asking have you ever met a fat person in a country of 40 million? What's the point of such questions? Are we supposed to be Pleasantville or what?
