LIKE / DISLIKE button - A suggestion to Admin and Moderators

My priceless suggestion to Admins and Moderators (hope it will be taken seriously with good spirits and due respect).

I suggest you to add "LIKE" and "DISLIKE" button for every post! In this way, others like click on the LIKE or DISLIKE button, and their nick names can be visible in some space under that post, so others can see that they like it/dislike it.

If you think dislike will not be good...then put just LIKE!...

Think about it ... just a suggestion ... but might add so much more to the forum's beauty.

Or maybe thumbs up or down button....(like in youtube). Incase you dont want to show the name of the person who liked or disliked the post. =)

that's like on facebook or articles on yahoo and msn where people rate other peoples views, and i don't see how it would improve the forum. what ya gonna suggest next, hide the posts with too many 'boos'? come on...

Did I say that yet?

Why cant people rate other people's views here aswell?

Its a forum ... we discuss, share ... and make opinions, comments ... LIKE and DISLIKE ideas ... better to click a button than to leap on someones back!

What does the rating of posts get us?

Because this isn't facebook and a lot of people here don't like each other, you would just end up with people disliking posts for the sake of it.

I suggest you to add "LIKE" and "DISLIKE" button for every post!

How about a whiney cry baby member button?

Or if you make a farewell post and quit, then ban thier IP address also! Then they cant come back with phoney screenames and start thier BS all over again.

That would be nice:)

Such feature is a waste of resources : Youtube and other media find it useful because they can create hype and hide stories that are against their agendas (by reseting the number of "LIKE", for example). We won't use this feature here :)

I must say that i usually like your suggestions but this one i have to disagree with, who really cares if certain individuals agree or disagree with what has been said, what difference does it make on the grand scale??

People should be a allowed to express their opinions/views whether or not we (me/you) agree or disagree with them, one of the things that makes this forum so good is that you can have your say without real judgement unless its an on going debate.

I don't think the potential judgement of every post would attract new members and would probably put a few of the regulars off!!! Hell if there is one thing admin did get right about me, its the 'freedom of speech' that this forum allows, that would be somewhat questioned with your 'buttons' idea.

Might aswell give me that title underneath my username.

But I'm a dirty cheater, because I will laugh my ass off instead of crying about it!

That's a bad idea, a better idea would a possibility to add a person to ignore list. On the other hand I've noticed few times that some people who seem stupid in some posts (fi Sokrates) turn alright in others. So it probably wouldn't be such a good feature after all..

true, but what about people who have two active nicks????? ;)

PF membership probably would probably be reduced by 1/3 but Im only guessing?

If I had multiple usernames, I think it would be easy tell?

You would have to kick yourself off 3 times....lol

Too bad there wasnt a shock button or BS detector..haha

Might aswell give me that title underneath my username

You seem like like an alright kind of guy, I wouldnt zap you with the shut up shocker:)

That's a bad idea

Yeah it is,, I say let them play on Facebook and delete this thread!

sweet brother, although its a idea that might control the crowd, you dont need buttons
here to get the like and dislike added to a post! soon as someone sees that your response
isnt to their liking they bluntly tell you how much they like it and dislike it..

I think we should have a thumbs up and thumbs down button instead and one that has
a middle finger so when someone really feels mad they can swear without getting in
trouble!! lol

This kind of features were already tried by many on several different forum applications but it couldn't get any popularity and failed, so I would say a feature like this is better suited on video/picture sharing websites.

I would suggest giving titles in small sized text to users alongside their user names (like gold members), based on their post counts, so other users can see if the member is new or old, unless user details like post counts, joined date are mentioned like earlier under the avatar

Weve already had stars, smiley faces and a post count race but Admin has phased them out. Everytime he makes a change it causes a big uproar with some members,

Like its the end of thier world.

I like it the way the layout is now and if he decides to delete the Avatars, Im not going to lose any sleep over it.

But please keep the Avatars, I think it gives the forum some character:)

no one is causing any uproar, just like you appreciate the avatars because it gives
the forum character, I liked the smilies, lodz likes the stars, no ones losing sleep over
it trust me.

we all have far more important things going on then to worry about that, it was only a
suggestion on his part. conversation.

Pat you should of been around here last week, I shouldnt of singled out Lodz but it was a Ragfest about the Avatars all week long.

no ones losing sleep over
it trust me.

Im not so sure about that:)

If this were a paysite then I could understand the members complaining and if Admin gets commercial advertisement, I dont blame him.

Nobody really donates so let him make some cash

no one is causing any uproar,

Theres always an uproar, you just have to look in RC...lol :):)

Nobody really donates so let him make some cash

People donated atleast 625 $.

Want to know how to make some cash? Create an ebook. Make it a Polish language course with audio files. Ask one or two Polish speaking people here to speak a few sentences in Polish, and let them record these as an audio file, and offer everyone who's in about 5% of the profits. Get a copyright and maybe include a few graphics? (Photo thread?)

You only have to create an ebook once, and you can sell it everywhere, anytime, at any price. (No production costs, no distribution costs, and no shipping costs.) 100% profitable.

;)

No, Ariƫn isn't always stupid.

Its a FEEDBACK section. We see, we feel, and then we say. There is no one loosing sleep as Pat mentioned... and there is no reason for you being so much overboard with all this. Either you were drunk, or its just your manners.

I have also appreciated the Admin in my thread. In this one, it was a suggestion, not a complaint or an expression of dissatisfaction.

Try to behave in a more mature and less violent manner next time.

Oh, and to expand a little on my previous posting.. Just a simple question, how many times did you get a poster here who was asking people where to learn Polish? (So if you can offer a cheap, and pretty solid language course in an ebook, then maybe such people won't have to look anywhere else?) I understand you've got quite a few language teachers here on this site..

;)
