Mobile Food Cart Business - can I expect any profits? Do I need some special permission from government?

Hi Folks,

I am currently jobless and it will take a long time before i can get a professional and satisfying job (I am a professional Web Developer). But i really want to start my own business...small but my own so i don't have to work under humen.

I was thinking about opening a kebab shop but nowadays it's almost impossible to find a cheap shop in even a fair location. so i was thinking about going mobile :)

I don't have any idea how this type of job/business works. Since i don't have driving license i will be going for "bicycle carts".

- Do i need special permission from government to run this type of business? (It's only about parking my cycle in a corner and selling hot dogs etc)

- Do i need permission for the parking place from the owner/government also?
- The most important question....Does this type of business even works? any profits?

I will really appreciate your help and suggestions. And thanks in advance!

I would imagine you would need some sort of licence or permit to trade on the street even if you are mobile.
As you would be selling food I'm sure there would be laws governing this as well, food hygiene certificates etc, there are always health related issues when dealing with food. How are you going to keep your hot dogs cold on a boiling hot summers day? And how would you heat them up too?

I don't think it's going to be quite as easy as just loading up your cart with hot dogs and rolls.
Good luck though and I hope you find something that works out.

You can sell flowers/roses on busy street corners/traffic lights from a plastic container,it requires permit but im sure you can get away with it or afford the fine.I happen to know a guy in NY who took 100k a year doing that and even had people selling for him.Roses/flowers are a very popular thing in Poland.

I would stay away from food business as it is taken seriously and require major health regulations to be followed, and authorites will not blink an eye to enforce them.

If you don't want to work for somebody, but don't have to earn money, you can join some web sturtup in exchange for shares instead of salary. To find people start attending IT events in Warsaw and making contacts. Of course chance of success is small, but you don't have to work for somebody.

You have to get the permission from government and also have to take a food license so that, in future no one can take any objection on what you are selling. On bicycle also you can start the business easily, only the thing is that you have to expand the last cart of the bicycle.i.e. you have to do some starting investment first. The last but most important factor in business is that you should have the enough patience if you really want to gain some profit.

Or else you can also take a franchise of any dessert shop.Search for those shop because there are some who want to increase there sale ,that is the best thing i think so.
