Cities like Lodz to find a job?

So I just visited Lodz this weekend, and i must say i was very pleasently surprised! Maybe do to the fact that i dint expect anything because Polish people in general tells me its sh*thole.

From living in Krakow I have by now already been so tired of all the Expants/Foreigners here. I dont feel like im getting the autentic Polish experience.

On the other hand i felt alot more like that in Lodz.

My question is if theres other "Bigger cities" in Poland that has the same kinda atmosphere as Lodz where it would be possible to find a job? (You can exclude Warsaw)

Is it worth?

Hello Polish friends, i have found a job in Lodz in which i am given 4000 PLN gross and 2850 net. I am greek, i would like to ask you if it is worth to immigrate for such a salary? Can you live comfortably with 2850 PLN? How is the life in Lodz? Is it more a city or a big village? Any info could be very usefull. Thank you!

no.
that's about the median wage; which isn't enough for somehow comfortable living.

That would be poor wages even for a young single foreigner with no bad habits (alcohol, tobacco or girls). Your savings potential would be close to zero. There's no point in coming to Poland for so little money.

Łódź has the reputation for being one of the uglier and more depressing cities in Poland, and is one of the few cities in Poland that has gotten worse over the years instead of better. I used to live nearby fifteen years ago, and quite enjoyed the city then. But then it suffered many years of neglect and decay under the worst mayor in Poland until he was kicked out, and he left the city with huge problems that still haven't been sorted out. The once vibrant downtown main street died because huge shopping malls were built at either end. The best and brightest young people left to work for higher wages in nearby Warsaw or went abroad, leaving the old and less educated behind.

You can only live with that money, depending on how active you are you might be able to put something aside but it will be really hard, and about the city i have to agree with DominicB - the place is really ugly and depressing

I am going there quite often at the moment for work and it is definitely getting better - huge investments in infrastructure, a growing outsourcing business, Piotrowska is coming back to life and I think the population fall has been halted. Quite a lot of the grey blocks have been painted and had some much needed repair jobs. It's a great night out too.
