Take a tram to Rącze Wały (Roncevalles Ave) and hang out at the local shops, bars and restaurants.

Hey jfks,

Yeah, there are courses around and heading to Roncevalles is another good start. The bars are a great place to make some initial headway. Best of luck

You can learn polish for free thanks to a federal program that funds second language training (waste of tax payer $$$ in my opinion). I can't remember where the polish club is toronto, but if you go to roncesvalles and ask around they point you in the right direction.

I'm in Toronto and want to learn Polish too. But I don't think going down to Roncesvalles and eavesdropping on people is appropriate.

There's a good book with CD entitled Polish in 4 weeks, English version that was written ny Marzena Kowalska and pulished by REA s.j. in Warsaw. It explains complex things like case, gender, verb aspect, declension of nouns, congugation of verbs. Try to get it and start studying. Don't worry about the "4 weeks", take as long as you want.

Invest in the Rosetta Stone software. It's great.

Check the store at 191 Roncesvalles Ave. It is called Artus. They have some books on learning Polish. There 5 different levels starting with A1, A2, B1, B2, and C1. It will cost about $150after taxes. Or go to the Biggest Bookstore on Edward St. It is just east of Bay St. within sight of Yonge.
