It pains me to say it, but my Alma Mater is being an idiot...
Seems that Modern Languages are under threat of closure. This includes the Slavonics Dept, which teaches Czech, Russian and Polish. Indeed, it is one of only (if not the only) places to offer a degree course in Polish in Britain.
Indeed, all those british businesses having to move to Poland... just as well they speak English there, I suppose.
Of course, it's not like the UK has a stereotyped rep for being reluctant to learn those nasty foreign languages is it?
