Gorzow Wielkopolski."

Been there.

Post communist dump. Sorry to tell you but truth hurts.

PS: I was in GW in communist times. As I was too busy trying to score, maybe I missed the Teutonic knights stuff?

No Białystok, Star of the East? Next time you're here contact me if you'd like a guided tour around Białowieża.

Did you see that Belarus has opened up visa-free visits to their side of the park?

I'm sorely tempted to take a weekend trip - I'd like to see Czeremcha and Hajnówka as well as the park, and seeing the Belarus side would be the icing on the cake.

According to Barclays wealth management, UK cities are ranked so, in terms of prosperity:)

Poland anybody?

1 London
2 Reading
3 Cambridge
4 Birmingham
5 Bristol
6 Leeds
7 Cardiff
8 Manchester
9 Liverpool
10 Newcastle

seeing the Belarus side would be the icing on the cake.

Mixed views on that Delph - some say that El presidente is a good egg (some of my corp clients went selling there and couldn't be more upbeat.....

And others maintain that it's still a pariah state.

Please take them up on this and report.

It's frankly amazing that Poles choose to holiday in Cuba et al. You would think they had had enough of restrictions, but they seem to love it - maybe because they can act the rich kid. Naughty comment, but otherwise, why go?

Please don't steer away from the topic - Polish cities, thank you

I am a native to GW, you're right. I know I'm in GW the moment I spot a communist block.

No, I didn't. I'll look into that. That side is much bigger than the Polish side.

You've just missed the Czeremcha festival, which gets better every year. Pencil it in for next year. Check out YT vids of Czeremszyna for a flavour. They are a great band formed by the head of Dom Kultury there. She's also the organizer of the festival. The Ukrainians, a UK-based band, play there sometimes. Think of The Pogues meet Czeremszyna.

There's precious little to see in Hajnówka except the famed Orthodox church, but it's the gateway to Białowieża so you simply have to go through it.

Zielona Góra

Been there. Pleasant town to live in, reminds me a bit of Northern England. Not a tourist draw except perhaps the Wine Festival which sounds worth a visit.

Didn't there used to be a decent sized British community there?

Nobody's mentioned Kielce yet.

If I were you, I would first check if that covers Schengen and foreign citizenship as well or it is restricted to Polish citizens only. I don't know, but it seems possible.

Nobody's mentioned Kielce yet.

Kielce was mentioned by the famous pre-war artist Witkacy once, but according to his poem "Do przyjaciół gówniarzy", the town is better to avoid, and to avoid at all cost ...

Translate in future, or don't put Polish text in the main forums

Nothing wretched about it! Not a bad place at all, and the old meme about the railway station is unfair. Applies more to Kutno.

Kutno

There are tractors carrying haystacks moving through the Kutno's high street. Personally I wouldn't call Kutno a city or even a town for this matter. :)
