We will be in Krakow in late August and hope to stay in a comfortable, better quality hotel. Any recommendations and where are they located?

There is a few ... google your search and then you will see late August good time prices might be a little up in some hotels with it still being high season

Depends also whether you want to be centrally located or dont mind a little trip in a taxi or on a tram from your hotel :)

Probably more centrally located.

Any thoughts/recommendations regarding the Hotel Polonia?

Hotel Polonia

Perfect location for sightseeing but noise might be a factor.

Have you ever stayed there or know someone who has? Do the rooms include a private bathroom? There seems to be several different prices for the same type of room on their website. Any idea why?

Do you really need to ask?

This isn't Belarus!

Excellent location, pricey, quiet. The only negative is lack of sufficient parking space (about 4 places on the nearby lot)

Check this out: video with late president of Poland visiting this place

i stayed at Hotel Andel last August, was well looked after and the rooms were all very modern and clean. great location as well as getting to airport meant just walking out the hotel across the plaza to the train station and then straight to the airport. Think Polonia was just across the road from Andels and a couple of friends stayed there. They said it was nice just a bit older inside but was quite a bit cheaper.

Pod Wawelem Hotel great view of the Wawel and the Wisla. The best roof terrace in Krakow and easy to get to places from.

If you're after network hotels then the Sheraton, but I'd definitely be in favour of the Grand Hotel - better location, better 'climate' and... has more spirit as for a hundred year-old hotel...

I can suggest that you can try book any apartment. I can recommend web site myapartments.pl where can find many apartments in very good condition close to the city centre.

Exactly my question. I am interested mostly in a location easily walkable to the Rynek (Stare Miasto). It is one of my favorite places in the world (and I've been around). I'm somewhat arthritic these days, but can walk a few blocks with no problem. I just want to sit in the rynek and watch people, if nothing else. Attend mass at Mariacki. For old times sake (I attended the Jag'n U 40-some years ago). In those days, I was living at the Dom Nawojka Studentek - ul. Reymonta 11 pok. 229 (how's that for memory?). A bit of a walk to the rynek, but Jordan Park and the piwo wagon on the other side was primo!. Something maybe closer na rynek (as we say)? American dollar 60 or so per night
