Yes, Bieszczady Mountains are famous for those polonynas
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Polonyna_(montane_meadow)

Let`s stick to the place with a few more riddles.

Where was the photo taken?

The only real searchable feature from that pic is Winnie the Pooh. It is the Winnie the Pooh Hut ( Chatka Puchatka ), the highest mountain shelter in Bieszczady.

Yes, exactly! It is small but tourists flock to it like bees to honey.

What is the first name of that red deer?

What is the first name of that red deer?

Hmm. Red deer are Cervus elaphus, and the subspecies is C. e. hippelaphus, is it anything to do with that?

The hippelaphus are the largest deer found in the Carpathian Mountains.
In fact one of the largest deer found in all of Europe.
In England those big boys are called a 'hart'.
Hart is an archaic word for "stag" from Old English heorot, "deer".

No, I mean a standard first name used for human males. That deer was famous at the time as the one who wasn`t afraid of tourists climbing one of Bieszczady peaks. It was hikers who gave him the name. .

Hint - the name comes from Greek.

If it is a personal name that you gave him then Chemikiem and I won't be able to use Wikipedia as a multilingual online encyclopedia to find the answer to this one.

My new guess is Stud.

Yes. I am not sure if he still roams those pastures.

Where is the man playing?

On a fence with the Bieszczady Mountains in the back ground.

Apart from Wiki, there is also google search.

Where is the man playing?

On top of Tarnica, the highest peak in the Bieszczady mountains.

Yes. I remember the last few hundred meters of the trail were very exhausting - steep, rocky and boiling hot.

BTW, the man playing the guitar had a piece of paper on the ground. What was written on it?

johnny reb 47 | 6,793

The words to the song he was playing or maybe 'Donations'.
OP pawian 221 | 23,987
7 Jul 2019 #2,810
He wanted donations of course, but didn`t express it directly. Instead, he described the need for those donations in a funny/unusual way. What exactly ?
johnny reb 47 | 6,793

To put a fresh water well at Chatka Puchatka.

Nope, sth more personal.
But as it was a riddle within a riddle, we don`t need to suffer this pain. He wrote only 3 words: Żeby zostać dłużej - Let me stay longer.

Why did he write it?

Next one:
Where are they?

Chemikiem
8 Jul 2019 #2,813
Why did he write it?

Because he wanted to stay in the area but couldn't afford to do so unless people kindly donated some cash?

Where are they?

Lake Solina?
OP pawian 221 | 23,987
8 Jul 2019 #2,814
First yes - he wanted to enjoy the atmosphere of romantic freedom in Bieszczady. I also recall our trip there with nostalgia - if not for those hordes of tourists on hiking trails, the place was really fantastic. :):)

Second yes - Lake Solina made by a dam built in 1960s..

This village used to be densely populated for centuries. After the war, the population dropped to one dozen (twelve inhabitants) for decades.

Which one?

Chemikiem

Which one?

Wołosate I think. I found pictures of that drawing well saying Połonina Bukowska, but that is not a village. Then I found the same picture when I was looking at gravestones, and Wołosate cmentarz is next to the well apparently.

The whole area looks beautiful. Parents of a close friend live in Czarna, and I've been invited a few times to go and stay with them. Maybe I should take them up on the offer......
OP pawian 221 | 23,987
9 Jul 2019 #2,816
Yes, Wołosate, destroyed after WW2, it wasn`t a village for decades until 2017.

The whole area looks beautiful.

The area of Wołosate or everything?

live in Czarna,

Czarna? Another riddle is black, then:

What and where?

OP pawian 221 | 23,987
10 Jul 2019 #2,817
I see. Let the black construction wait for a better day.

New one:
What is happening?:

Chemikiem
11 Jul 2019 #2,818
What and where?

Orthodox church in Równia I think.

What is happening?:

Not sure. They all have rucksacks. Are they waiting for a tour guide or to get trail maps? Being shown some local custom?

The area of Wołosate or everything?

The whole Bieszczady area, makes me want to go hiking :)
OP pawian 221 | 23,987
11 Jul 2019 #2,819
Yes, Równia, once Orthodox, today RC.

Not sure. They all have rucksacks. Are they waiting for a tour guide or to get trail maps? Being shown some local custom?

Yes, they have rucksacks but it doesn`t matter. What matters is their posture. It was the first hint. :) Soon another one.

The whole Bieszczady area, makes me want to go hiking :)

Hmm, I could show you our trip to Bieszczady in a seperate photo story with uncut pics. Or you prefer to explore on your own?
