The name (and story behind) this school is an interesting one. I couldn't find a photo displaying the name, however (makes it easy), the school's in Żdżary...

Why do you ask?

I don't know of anyone that has visited it before, so I was curious. From the pictures I've seen, there is isn't a whole lot left of it considering it was the largest Stalag in the Third Reich.

in 2015 they opened a public library there.

Yeah, it was a bit of a surprise to me. I walked in to buy a train ticket and found........a library!

Riddle time! I'll start with an easy one to test the waters.

We've already had one leaning building in this thread, here's another quite well known one, where is it?

I have never seen it and have no idea. Let others solve it. :)

In Łuków. But they say that Łuków is in Podlasie and that`s east of the Wisła River, where you don`t go? :):)

There's a whole story to this ;)

Next riddle. I never expected to ever go here, that much is clear :)

Chemikiem - isn't that the tower in Toruń? I was there once, but I don't remember exactly how it looked.

  • No, not the shop from Ranczo, despite looking similar.

Bingo! Gold star for you Delph :) I just knew it would be too easy! Your riddle looks to be a nightmare though :(

Two clues: it's from the same trip as Łuków, and it's definitely east of the Wisła.

Chemikiem - isn't that the tower in Toruń?

That`s why I didn`t know, I saw Toruń a few times but only its skyline by the river. :):)

it's from the same trip as Łuków

We need more info. Is it in Łuków county?

We need more info.

Definitely. From the view, it looks like Delph just took a wrong turn somewhere......

It could be anywhere, I could post a picture of my cowshed but that also would not give anyone a sporting chance.

:):) We should guess the location by seeing only a small part of that white building on the left which looks like historical, indeed. But it isn`t a church. The sign shows symbols of a crossed-out train and a bus but the words below them are indiscernible. The drab house in the background displays a board with a name which looks like WIKI Sklep but it is too obscure to discern it well enough.

An old railway station?

Nope. Next one across. Part of a cross-country trip.

Hard to say much about the place, but the building on the right dates from 1867 with the coming of the Iron Road, and the seat of the gmina isn't there.

For a small village, it also has international connections.

An old railway station?

I was right, an old railway station in Chotyłów. But without that year, it was impossible to guess the exact place. :):):) It was Warsaw Brześć route, part of Berlin Moscow route.

pawian - nicely done ;)

Last one for tonight.

Bonus point: where was I going?

I checked all newly built or renovated railway stations in Podlasie region and couldn`t find it.

But I know the answer to the bonus question - you were going to the loo! I see WC symbol over the door.

On second thoughts, it is in Poznań. You were nearby the station and suddenly needed to take a pee so you went inside.

No, come on, it's part of my trip ;) What are these people waiting for?

Judging by how empty it is, might be Radom airport.
That means you were going to Egypt :)

What are these people waiting for?

They are waiting for the door to be opened at last so that they can commence their travel.:)

But where, how and why, I have no idea. :)

Egypt :)

Hey, backtothefutyrere, long time no read!

You're killing me ;) You're right about the reason for waiting, but...where? Why would doors be locked at 10am?

Certain platforms and tracks are fenced off, like in this picture.

Hey, backtothefutyrere, long time no read!

Hello, amigo! How did you recognize me? Seems that my post counter for this login has been reset and my previous username is no longer available - a pity, I liked it.

Why would doors be locked at 10am?

I know! A train with the Chairman K. is passing through the station. Hence the fences and locked doors. Do I get a point?

where was I going?

I think you were going to Brest in Belarus . The two places mentioned so far, Łuków and Chotyłów, are on the Warsaw - Terespol route.

Another very easy riddle to counter the formidable Pawian and Delph duo ;)

Where is this?

OP pawian 223 | 24,389

Certain platforms and tracks are fenced off, like in this picture.

Yes, indeed, tracks are fenced on both sides.

I see only two plausible explanations:

1. It is the extraterritorial Autobahn to Danzig which Germans have always demanded. But I thought they were turned down by Poles? Those fences mean the factual border. The people waiting at the main entrance are passengers waiting for a check in.

2. Metal scrap collectors are very active in the area. The tracks must be protected against them 24/7.

Hello, amigo! How did you recognize me?

I simply detected your perfume, it is the same you used years ago.

Where is this?

Reminds me of Nowa Huta, Central Square architecture. And I remember this neon light, I have always liked it but it doesn`t work today. :)

Oops, I was to wait until other people try. Sorry.... :)

Sorry, it works again, was restored in 2014, as the cultural heritage of Nowa Huta district. In the past there used to be a popular pastry shop..

Nowa Huta,

Yep, I can see I'm going to have to make my riddles a tad tougher ')

Sorry, it works again, was restored in 2014,

Looks pretty, I should've gone in the evening. I read that it used to be a cake shop, but long since gone, shame :(

Now there is a bank. Capitalist revenge on communist ideology.

No, keep them like that, I will delay my guessing for 12 hours until everybody has a chance. :)

Correct. I can't recommend Brest highly enough, by the way - if you get the chance, I'd really recommend it. It's incredibly clean, safe and civilised - though their knowledge of Polish is poor and English is non-existent, which adds to the fun.

Do I get a point?

For making me laugh, yes :D

Those fences mean the factual border. The people waiting at the main entrance are passengers waiting for a check in.

Well, yes ;) But which station?
