I'm just wondering if its possible to cross over into Poland without a Passport.I've driven over many a times and never been stopped before but this time I'm on a coach going to Warsaw from Hannover.Due to some technicalities my British Passport still hasn't arrived which was sent for a renewal.I possess other forms of ID namely Drivers Licence etc.

My question is that is it worth taking the risk of being stranded on the border?

Standard punishment is a 500zl fine if stopped crossing the border without documents.

The Germans may have more severe punishments.

If you have a photocopy of your passport and other forms of ID, it should be fine. There is a page regarding traveling while passport is being processed on the UK gov website.

They've got it completely wrong - Schengen law makes it clear that you are required to be in possession of a valid identity document when crossing a Schengen border. A photocopy won't cut it - no valid document, then you're likely to be fined for doing so. In a sense, Schengen made it worse - before, you could probably get by by discussing it with the border guards at the border, but now?

The emergency travel document would be the way to go:

gov.uk/emergency-travel-document

Here are the rules:

europa.eu/youreurope/citizens/travel/entry-exit/eu-citizen/index_en.htm

gov.uk/get-a-passport-urgently

Pay if it is that important. I wouldn't take the chance...
