Nicest Lakes in Poland (esp. Wielkopolska)?

Hey all,

I'm a foreigner living in Poznan, Wielkopolska. I really love water and lakes, and was wondering if any of you had some recommendations.

I've been to Malta, Rusalka, Strzeszyn, and Kiekrz here in Poznan, but thought it would be fun if I could make a day out cycling somewhere, swimming a bit, and cycling back.

What lakes can you recommend all across Poland? The closer, the better. I am too young to drive and so would be cycling anywhere within around 50KM and taking trains or buses otherwise.

I've also been to Drawsko, which was wonderful!

Also, does Poland have any clearer lakes? Most seem to have darker water.

Would love to hear your thoughts.

Góreckie lake is supposed to be very pretty, it lies in Wielkopolska National Park which is only about 15 kms away from Poznań.

Góreckie lake

Ooo wow! Even a small island in the middle. Imagine my confusion when I saw a place called 'Lodz' nearby on the map, though!

There are a few nice lakes that direction. Thanks for your suggestion!

You certainly won't be able to cycle there, but the Mazury lakes are supposed to be beautiful, there are over 2000 of them.
Maybe you could plan a trip, but to be honest you will probably need a car to get around the area.
Hope to go there myself one day.

Mazury

I've hear about Mazury before! You're right in saying I wouldn't be able to cycle though!

It would only take you a couple of weeks maybe ;)

There is another lake that I would love to visit, but it is in the Tatra National Park, so unfortunately not close to Poznań.
I have seen friends' pictures of this lake and it has beautiful clear water surrounded by stunning scenery.
This is it:-

You never know, maybe you will get a chance to go with friends or something, but it is a bit of a long trip from where you are.

Morskie Oko! I heard about that recently too. It looks like one of the most beautiful, clear lakes in Poland. I've also been wondering whether I should make a trip there to try and summit Rysy, so perhaps that would be a nice place to stop on the way.

Go for it, then you can post some nice pics here for us to see :-)

I've read that it's about a 2 hour hike from the park entrance, or if you're feeling a bit tired, you can take a horse and carriage ride there ( although you have to walk for about the last 20 minutes ).

You will have to head for Zakopane to get there, but travel in Poland is cheap as I'm sure you know.

Most beautiful lakes in Poland

Poland has some amazing countryside, the lakes cap it all. There is nothing better in the summer months than getting out of the city to the lake or river for water -sports.

My favorite area is the lake at Zgon, mazury what about yours.

Until you remember that many of them are still heavily polluted.
