Hi,

Im going over to poland this friday with my fiance (who is polish) and she suggested going to a nightclub in warsaw.

I was just wondering when the polish people in warsaw or the club hear me speaking english are they guna beat me up for being English??

I will be going with my fiance and her friends.

Sounds silly i know but i dont know how polish people feel about english people.
And i was recently reading that the polish hooligans were guna kill the english people.
Realy dont want that being me.

Many thanks
Jon

Jon, you'll be fine (and that's based on my experience speaking English in Warsaw for a decade and a half).

You'll have no problems at all. Thousands of British people live in Warsaw and violence in clubs is very rare.

Take any negative comments with a pinch of salt.
I haven't been to any clubs in Poland, but i have been to plenty of bars. Not once have i had a problem, and i was travelling alone.

Tbh i felt safer walking around Krakow late at night than i would do in my home town, and i don't come from a particularly rough area.

You will have a great time, enjoy yourself :)

No-one takes any notice of grubas anyway, he's just another member of the "golumpkies" brigade, who have probably never even been to Poland (or the UK), yet that's all he ever rants about.

You'll be fine. Just don't do anything you wouldn't do back home, but that applies to any foreign country.

Although one thing which Jon shouldn't do here which he can do back home is try to drink like he can back home. Polish beer and vodka has been the ruin of many a good man! Jon, remember that Polish beer is usually about 6% (sometimes quite a bit more) and that Polish spirits will be at least 40ml measures (if not more). Oh, and Poles can seriously drink.
